Fastest desktop in its price range; large hard drive; decent amount of upgrade room.
Limited variety of external ports; slower PCs with similar specifications available for less.
This Best Buy-version of the Dell Inspiron may look unremarkable, but thanks to its fast Intel CPU it's also the best performing desktop PC in its sub-$600 price class. Other budget PCs might have fancier bells and whistles, but we like this desktop

Dell's first desktops to carry the Inspiron name look good, inside and out. With a huge range of available components and two equally attractive cases, mainstream consumers ought to be able to find a config that meets their budget, tastes, and computing n...
The Dell Inspiron 530 may outperform its budget competition, but the overall package leaves something to be desired.
Good performance. Decent expansion options. Bloatware-free configuration.
Lacks Media Center functionality. Smallish hard drive. Only 30 days of McAfee virus protection.
While the Dell Inspiron 530 is a capable system for tackling home tasks (as well as some multimedia apps), there are better value systems that offer more.
Dell's latest budget offering, the Inspiron 530 ($499 direct), is a competent system for everyday home use (e-mailing, DVD burning, office productivity), and it even handles more-processor-intensive tasks, like editing photos in Photoshop, with...

Since Dell has stopped selling its AMD-based Inspirons, that leaves the Intel-powered Inspiron 530 and 530s leading its budget desktop charge. The Inspiron 530 is a modest $539 configuration that offers some surprising features for the price. Hewlett-Pack...
Discrete graphics card has its own memory, so it won't steal from the system RAM; built-in Bluetooth.
The Inspiron 530 was outperformed on a few tests by a system that costs $100 less.
PC vendors have very few tricks remaining to differentiate their systems from the competition, which makes the built-in Bluetooth in the Dell Inspiron 530 unique. There's little else that makes this system stand out, but if you need Bluetooth in your budg...

FireWire ports not standard, Requires tools for upgrades
If you want a value desktop with an excellent price-to-performance ratio and some room to grow, Dell's Inspiron 530 is arguably the best deal among the budget PCs we've tested recently
The Dell Inspiron 530 was powerful enough to earn superior scores (for a value PC) in both its productivity and graphics performance tests, yet it's quite inexpensive at $689 (as of 2/7/08). The Inspiron 530 provided the best performance in the...
Dell has dropped its venerable Dimension desktop brand. Now, both its mainstream consumer desktops and laptops will carry the Inspiron name. Along with the name change, Dell's new Inspiron 530 and 530s PCs usher in Intel's latest G33 chipset (aka Bearlake...
The Dell Inspiron 530/1142 comes with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor and 4GB of DDR2-667 memory, making it ideal for those who make heavy use of programs that can take advantage of those extra cores.
The Dell Inspiron 530/1142 has its perks. As well as its multitasking capabilities, it comes with an enormous storage capacity of 965GB and a TV tuner. Its 20in AOC monitor is also a decent component, providing considerably more desktop space than the Ecl...

All-round performance isn't a strong point for this system
Good selection of software included; Bargain price
2.1 speakers; Slow processor
However, if you can live with that, and would appreciate the extra storage space, then the Inspiron 530 looks like a real bargain
Don't be fooled by the compact size of the case - the Dell Inspiron 530 is more powerful than it looks. Lethargic processorThat's even more impressive when you realise that the Inspiron is -100 cheaper than the competition, but then there are...
