Camcorder Review: Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000 Camcorder

By Greg Robinson

Hands down, the HD 1000 gets its highest marks for coolness. Whip it out at the next family reunion and envy will fill the air. This camera is genuinely stylish; add in its light weight and small size and it becomes a very useful little tool

Looks great Multiple outputs provide flexibility Truly ergonomic

Awkward manual focus / exposure controls Noisy image in low light Onboard mic slightly tinny Video out only on docking station

Good HD camera for home users and hobbyists. Professionals will want more control.

Review of the Sanyo Xacti HD1000

By Russ Fischer

Sanyo's HD offering imbues a classic cam with quality video performance.

Very good video quality, Well-placed, easy to use controls, Ultralight, pistol-grip design, Sharp 4-MP still photos

Difficult to hold steady, Some tearing in video

Even with a skimpy software package that includes Nero 7 Essentials and Ulead MovieFactory 5.0 SE, the HD1000 is an excellent buy. We love the portability and video quality, and even the option to shoot stills while recording video. (The cam's 4-MP ...

Object of Desire: Sanyo Xacti HD1000

By Dan Havlik

World's smallest and lightest 1080i HD camcorder is great for video podcasting to your site.

A lot of photographers we know are having their assistants record their photo shoots and then posting the video onto their site or blog as a fun, short documentary. With the simple SD card format of the HD1000, getting these clips out of the camcorder ...

Just ask a colleague of ours who purchased the previous version of the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 the day before this 1080i handheld wonder was announced. The Sanyo Xacti HD1000, like it's predecessor, is a fabulous little flash-based camcorder that lets...

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000

By Matthew Sparkes

The HD1000 is the largest model in the Xacti range, and the most expensive, with a bigger lens and body than its smaller cousin, the HD700. It's still smaller than most camcorders, though, and its relative bulk comes with some benefits. The larger ...

Are you feeling lucky? Pistol grip design makes this a fun and easy camcorder to use.

Sanyo VPC-HD1000

By James Morris

Award: Recommended!

A good price coupled with outstanding image quality - a good budget alternative to the Panasonic HDC-HS9

Despite its size, it's just as comfortable to hold and use as the HD700. The buttons may be more plentiful, but they still all fall conveniently under the thumb, so it's simple to use the camcorder with one hand

Sanyo HD1000

By Staff writers

Great video, tons of features, easy to use... if only there was a PAL-friendly version

So good is the HD1000 on paper that, if it were human, we'd marry it on the strength of its personal ad. Sanyo's managed to squeeze on a hot shoe so you can add a video light, a mic input so you can improve the sound, a headphone socket so you can ...
