The Sony Ericsson W980 has a sleek and attractive design with a nice-looking internal display and simple controls. The feature set is good and performance is satisfactory.
The Sony Ericsson W980's menus are rather sluggish and it takes several seconds to start up. Also, the external display has a low resolution and the rear battery cover felt a bit flimsy.
The Sony Ericsson W980 isn't our top choice for a music phone, but it's an attractive and reliable model just the same.
The Sony Ericsson W980 Walkman is a very slick looking, music oriented flip phone. It has a respectable 8GB of built-in storage, and features the very nice Sony Walkman music player application.
The Sony Ericsson W980 is a great phone, especially if you're after a device with a top-notch music player.
The current ace of Walkman phones has been launched after the premiere in February. It's strange.
And this situation doesn't seem to change. Here we have W980, which is the latest, the best, the most professional, the "most Walkman", but this has no real camera either and its features have barely changed, but I have met flaws one after the other, whil...
At the MWC 2008, Sony Ericsson introduced some new models, including the W980, which is a representative of the high-class in the music series. It is one of the few clamshells in it and ......
Excellent sound quality when listening to music with earpieces, Convenient control in closed position, 8 GB internal memory, FM transmitter
Unsatisfactory sound quality while talking, Inconvenient to handle and carry in a pocket, The camera is not up to the mark, There is no memory card slot

The latest clamshell Walkman phone is absolutely packed with features. Deep breath: HSDPA, stereo Bluetooth, support for the most common music formats and a 3.2-megapixel camera. More exotically, the W980 boasts an FM transmitter, Microsoft Exchange suppo...
Decent sound quality; solid design and build; excellent screens; Microsoft Exchange support; push email; HSDPA data; decent music format support; FM transmitter integrated
No 3.5mm headphone socket; not exactly innovative or fresh; memory not expandable; no camera flash
Not an innovative phone, and it won't replace your dedicated MP3 player, but in most other ways it's terrific and feature-packed. It'll even push your office's corporate email to you
A clamshell phone is something of a rarity from Nokia, so it's interesting to see the 6650 sporting a design that's not a million miles away from that of Motorola's Razr range. Some of Nokia's previous clamshell offerings, such as the N76, have been...
The Sony Ericsson W980i is a new addition to the Walkman® range which is due out in Q3 of 2008. The W980i is a tremendous looking mobile phone weighing in at 100 grams (3.5oz) and available in a stunning piano black colour. At 17mm thick it is not the t
The Sony Ericsson W980i has a 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom up to 3.2x zoom. A photo fix function is installed which lets you optimize the image quality by automatically adjusting the contrast and colour balance once you have taken the photo. T...
Does this flippin' Walkman phone impress?
Sounds great, external Walkman controls, great screen, headphones better than average
Screen a little small, no 3.5mm jack, little innovation
Whilst it performs in all areas, there is little innovation here to really get excited about
It may not outperform a dedicated music player, but the W980 is a Walkman that's great as a secondary (and fashionable) music device when carrying two players is just not possible.
Solid hinge; well-spaced keypad; Bluetooth stereo; HSDPA; 8GB onboard storage; FM transmitter; decent sound quality.
Fingerprint magnet; still no onboard 3.5mm audio jack; lacks camera features.
There are also two rubber nubs on the inner side of the clamshell which dampens the clacking sound when the two halves of the phone come into contact
sony ericsson w980i review: Most of our complaints about the W980 are purely cosmetic. Looks aside, this latest Walkman works well as both a phone and a dedicated music player, with a substantial 8GB of storage being the icing on the cake.
Excellent music player and bundled headphones, 8GB internal storage, Secondary display and external music controls, HSDPA
Awkward keypad design, Not Sony Ericsson's most attractive handset, No 3.5mm headphone port on phone
Most of our complaints about the W980 are purely cosmetic. Looks aside, this latest Walkman works well as both a phone and a dedicated music player, with a substantial 8GB of storage being the icing on the cake.
Sony Ericsson calls it the Clear Audio experience, a combination of two separate Sony audio components, Clear Stereo and Clear Bass. The keys are spaced evenly along the long bottom half of the W980, with standard Sony Ericsson navigation keys...
Sony Ericsson's new clamshell W980 leaves a lot more to the imagination…
A superb music offering from Sony Ericsson, while the 8GB of onboard memory provides plenty of storage space.
Although it doesn't pretend to be a camera phone, we were still disappointed with the overall snapping experience.
If we were judging this handset solely on music, it would be right up there, but as an overall package the phone is somewhat lacking.
