Tannoy i30 Speaker System for iPod

By Cathy Lu

Like a Miss Teen USA contestant, the i30 looks good--but things go downhill once it starts making sounds.

Sleek design, Compatible with most digital audio players

Sound quality is mediocre, Expensive

If you need a cool iPod speaker for your loft, the i30 definitely looks the part. But stylin' design can't compensate for lackluster sound

If you need a cool iPod speaker for your loft, the i30 definitely looks the part. When you spend four Benjamins on an iPod speaker system, you expect it to look and sound sublime. To ensure a snug fit, the speaker comes with five dock adapters...

Tannoy i30 iPod Speaker Dock

By Michael Brown

It's been 10 years since my first Tannoy encounter. I auditioned the company's exquisite studio monitors as an associate editor at Electronic Musician, and the acoustic bliss I experienced then lingers still. With that remembrance renewed, I couldn't ...

Includes a USB port, so you can sync to iTunes ; plenty of power on tap

Sonic performance is about as exciting as watching figgy pudding bake

), and the thundering piano cadence at the song's climax was enough to drive me out of my media room

Review: Tannoy i30 iPod dock

By Peter Ha

We compared the i30 to Bose's SoundDock and it beat out the Bose hands down. The SoundDock was more akin to a cheap $20 iPod dock than the grandiose experience people are expected to have with Bose products. The i30's sound was crisp, unmuffled and ...

Yeah, I know you're thinking it's just another iPod dock among the sea of thousands of iPod docks available now, but this UK-engineered dock is much different. We first saw Tannoy's i30 iPod dock back in January at CES and now we've been able to...

Tannoy i30 iPod Speaker System

By Lisa Katayama

Tannoy's latest speaker system is actually kinda sexy. Well as sexy as a speaker system can get. First off, the clever packaging makes for a fascinating unboxing experience nearly on par with an Apple product - the power cords and peripherals come in ...

Shiny black fabric-over-steel mesh speakers reminiscent of silk. High quality, room filling sound. USB and video-out sockets for video and iTunes sync.

Adapters get stuck in the dock, making it difficult to switch from your 3G to your nano. Our inexplicably buggy remote control only works correctly half the time.

REVIEW: Tannoy i30 iPod speaker dock

By Stuart Miles

Design, sound

Lose the remote and you're in trouble

As iPod speaker docks go, this has got to be one of the best sounding we've heard this year

Sleek, gloss, black and minimalist in design, the Tannoy i30 iPod speaker dock doesn't profess to being able to wake you, make you a cup of tea of anything else like that. Professional speaker maker Tannoy has launched what it claims is an...

Tannoy i30 speaker system for iPod review

By Cathy Lu

When you spend £179 on an iPod speaker system, you expect it to look and sound sublime. Tannoy's i30 certainly looks fine, but its audio quality doesn't befit a high-end device.

Tannoy i30 iPod speaker Review - MP3 Players Accessories

By Ella Morton

tannoy i30 ipod speaker review: All up, the i30 is a solid performer in a refined-looking package, but we were craving more bass from its deep drivers.

Rich, enveloping audio, Uncluttered, elegant design, Wall mountable, USB connection for synching

Bass is a little weak, Control is via remote, which is teeny and could get lost, Would look bulky on the wall, Pricey

The i30 is a solid performer in a refined-looking package, if a little wanting in the bass stakes.

At 3.6 kilograms, the i30 is not in the portable class of iPod speakers, but it's not the heftiest of the all-in-one home dock line-up. The central iPod dock -- compatible with all dock connector models thanks to the five included adaptors -- is...

Tannoy i30

By Andrew Kliem

Great separation and vocal presentation, nice mids, USB connection, stylish design

Bass could be a little more punchy, no external controls, cost

If you aren't listening to dance music or something requiring a ton of punchy bass, and think you can manage to hang on to the i30's remote, this is one of the best iPod docks on the market. Do keep in mind though that it isn't cheap.

Tannoy isn't quite that high end, but they are known for producing great quality mid- to high-end speakers and have been doing so for many years. A rather flimsy plastic remote handles all the basic control elements which is fairly standard, but...
