Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 (silver) review

Capable of excellent photos outdoors in good light; compact and comfortable.

No semimanual exposure modes ; lens distortion ; no zooming during movie capture ; poor high-ISO noise profile ; so-so auto white balance indoors

For the Cyber-shot DSC-H10 budget megazoom camera, Sony didn't change much from its predecessor, the Cyber-shot DSC-H3. A decent, but not outstanding option for those in search of a modestly priced megazoom, you might want to check out our list of...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10

If you can live without an electronic viewfinder, you won't find a better value in a compact super-zoom than the DSC-H10. The zoom factor is not as high as most of the competition, but 38-380mm (35mm equivalent) is still a lot of zoom. The advanced ...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 is Sony's latest entry into the budget compact

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 Review: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 is Sony's latest entry into the budget compact super-zoom market. But to be fair, this is a budget compact super-zoom - if these items matter to you then you might want to look at a...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 Review

By Zoltan Arva-Toth

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 is a fairly compact digital camera, which is no small achievement considering the 10x zoom lens it sports. It is, however, somewhat bulkier than its most obvious competitor the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, due to the Sony ...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 Review

By AKAJohnDoe

Lens quality ; 10x optical zoom ; Relatively fast in action mode ; Override settings not always present on point-and-shoot cameras

No optical finder ; LCD practically unusable outdoors ; Manual mode unnecessary as implemented ; Macro mode focus fussiness ; Menu system

The H10 still has a Carl Zeiss 10x zoom (38-380mm in 35mm terms). These high-quality optics distinguish the H10 from other models in this crowded field of 8-plus megapixel compact cameras

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 Concise Review

By Lars Rehm

Award: Recommended!

The Cyber-shot DSC-H10 was announced in late January and comes as a successor to the DSC-H3 which itself was only launched a mere 5 months earlier. The H10 only constitutes a relatively minor upgrade with the new larger 3.0" screen with its increased ...

Reliable 'point and shoot' performance, Good image quality in good light ; bright, sharp images with immediate 'consumer friendly' appeal, Powerful flash with slow synch mode, Efficient image stabilization, Good zoom range (although only starting at ...

No real wide angle, Manual mode only offers 2 F-stop settings, Slow, unreliable focus in low light, Only basic external controls, Longwinded menu structure, All-plastic body, Non-standard video/USB connector, Combined effects of noise and noise ...

I mentioned in the introduction to this review that the only apparent difference between the Sony DSC-H10 and its predecessor - the H3 which we reviewed in January - is the size and resolution of the screen.

Sony Cybershot DSC-H10: Sony Cyber

By David Gussman

As D-SLR prices continue to drop, we should see big changes in the superzoom segment of the digital camera market. Already, more and more compact, lower-priced models with up to 20X optical zoom lenses are hitting the shelves. At $299.99 direct, Sony ...

Large 3-inch screen. Can preview ISO settings on the LCD. Little noise in low-light shots. Sports-shooting scene mode for capturing clear, fast-action shots.

Faulty face detection. Flash shots are overexposed. No optical viewfinder. Plastic body feels a bit flimsy.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10's unique features are overshadowed by poor flash image quality and iffy face detection. If you're in the market for a budget superzoom, better, lower-priced options are out there.

At $299.99 direct, Sony's latest superzoom, the Cyber-shot DSC-H10, isn't terribly expensive, and with 10X optical zoom, eight different scene modes, and the ability to preview ISO settings on the 3-inch LCD, the H10 brings a lot to the table....
