Garmin Nuvi 250 (silver) review

By Bonnie Cha

The Garmin Nuvi 200 boasts a compact design and is easy to use. It offers accurate directions and some nice tools for the traveler.

Though the Nuvi 200 is more affordable than other models in the series, we wish the price was slightly lower based on the included feature set.

The Garmin Nuvi 200 series offers drivers and travelers a more budget-friendly version of the popular portable navigation devices, but we think the price is still slightly high for what you get.

The Garmin Nuvi 200 series includes three models: the Nuvi 200 ($428.56) with preloaded maps of the United States and Puerto Rico; the Nuvi 250 ($482.16), which adds maps of Canada; and the Nuvi 270 ($599.99), which comes preinstalled with maps of...

Garmin nuvi 250

By Craig Ellison

The groundbreaking Garmin nüvi 350 practically created the shirt-pocket travel companion category. It also had a price befitting new technology from a leader in the compact GPS space. Garmin is now offering a cheaper model, the nüvi 250, which sells ...

Familiar Garmin menu system. Preloaded with maps. Includes some travel kit features

No text-to-speech conversion. Less-sensitive GPS receiver than the 300 series

Even for $100 less than the much more capable nüvi 350, the nüvi 250 may not be that great a value.

Garmin is now offering a cheaper model, the nüvi 250, which sells for $100 less. Garmin describes the 250's receiver, without a brand name, as simply a "sensitive GPS receiver," which sounds to me as if the company has cut costs on it. All...

Garmin nuvi 250W

By Mark Harris

The Garmin nuvi 250W is a slim, entry-level sat-nav offering UK and European mapping plus safety cameras, but little in the way of extras. It's simple and easy to use, though, and gives reliable directions and useful points of interest

Big, colourful screen ; good search and points of interest ; clear voice

Weak GPS ; no traffic info ; can't update software

An entry-level navigator that benefits from a superb screen, comprehensive European mapping and excellent search functions. Only exclusively urban motorists should worry about the fussy GPS reception. The cheaper nuvi 200W is also available with maps ...

The Garmin nuvi 250W is an entry-level model offering UK and European mapping plus safety cameras, but little in the way of extras. Strengths The slim nuvi 250W works straight from the box, with full UK and western Europe street-level maps...

Garmin Nuvi 250

By Staff writers

An inexpensive, neatly designed sat-nav that happens to offer additional travel info if you want it

Solid build. Pocketable size. Easy to use.

Slightly confusing maps.

The Nuvi 250, though, is a lot smaller and, with its rounded corners, integrated GPS aerial and glitz-free design, could easily pass as a generic device. Like, indeed, an electronic phrasebook

Garmin nuvi 250

By Ross Catanzariti

Sleek and slim design, user-friendly interface, reasonable performance

Lack of included accessories, small display

The nuvi 250 is a solid unit and commands a lower price than the 250W, despite possessing the same features.

The nuvi 250 retains the sleek, ultra-slim design and user-friendly interface that Garmin is well known for and the price tag is considerably lower than the nuvi 250W despite the same features list. Garmin's POI Loader software allows you to...

Review: Garmin Nuvi 250W satellite navigation

By Tom Royal

A simple navigator with European maps

Decent screen, Decent screen, Calculates routes quickly, Speed camera alerts

Premium price for the wide screen, Premium price for the wide screen

Simple, but powerful, and the European maps are enough to seal the deal

Garmin's Nuvi 250W costs quite a bit more than that, but it is obvious what you get for your money. Satellite-navigation products are getting cheaper all the time, and it's now easy to buy a simple device with UK maps for as little as ?150....
