Navigon 7100

The Navigon 7100 GPS device offers a number of advanced navigation features, including text-to-speech functionality, an integrated traffic receiver with subscription-free traffic service, and a lane assistant function for optimal routing.

The 7100 is a bit sluggish and the interface isn't as user-friendly as the competition. You can't sync your cell phone's contact list with the device.

Though the Navigon 7100 offers some handy navigation tools and integrated Bluetooth, the confusing interface and sluggish performance prevents us from giving it higher marks.

Review: Navigon 7100 GPS navigator

By Matthew Ruiz

Navigon's 7100 focuses on navigation instead of music and media. But did it do a good job telling us where to go?

Navigon 7100, a review of Navigon 7100

A pricey but satisfying GPS navigator with enhanced views, free lifetime traffic, and Zagat listings.

The Navigon 7100 could use a friendlier interface, and it doesn't offer bells and whistles like music playback, but the 7100's Reality View, Lane Assistant, and Zagat's listings make it stand out of from a very crowded pack. But the Navigon 7100...

Navigon 7100

By Craig Ellison

Navigon is first with Zagat guides, subscription-free live traffic.

4.3-inch widescreen display. Text-to-speech conversion. Subscription-free traffic. Built-in traffic receiver, multi-segment routing. Reality View. Zagat guides.

Can't search POIs near a destination or a specific address. Bluetooth phone interface doesn't synch phone's contact list or call history. Separate TMC antenna makes for messy-looking dashboard.

Navigon's first entries into the PND market have some unique features, but some minor tweaks in the software are needed to make the 7100 a winner.

For those on a budget, the Navigon 5100 ($499) is a version of the 7100 with a 3.5-inch screen and without the Bluetooth phone interface found on the 7100. All Shots For this review, I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the first...
