Wide, high-resolution 15.4-inch screen; great performance; multipurpose flash card slot; trayless double-layer optical drive; 1GB of RAM.
Lacks instant-start media player; more expensive than comparable models; odd curved keyboard.
Acer puts the pedal to the metal with the Ferrari 4000, a notebook that--like the Italian sports car--is powerful and turns heads.
Forgoing the typical dull silver, putty-gray, or black plastic case, the Acer Ferrari 4000 will turn heads with a matte black carbon-fiber case, a prominent rearing Ferrari stallion logo, and accents of race-car red. In addition to Microsoft...
We would like to introduce to you a superior notebook on AMD Turion 64 processor from Acer. Like any premium model, the notebook boasts high performance, wide communicational capabilities, and superb functionality with all sorts of connectors, ports and i...
The joint team of designers and engineers from Acer and Ferrari who created the Ferrari 4005WLMi notebook did well to convey the atmosphere of Formula One racing. The technical characteristics of the new computer match well its stylish appearance and prou...
Ferrari-themed laptop delivers long battery life but has an awkward keyboard layout and a small screen.
Delivers great battery life
Keyboard is awkwardly designed
The Ferrari 4000 is pit-crew friendly, with memory slots and a hard drive that are accessible to and upgradable by users. They sit in separate bottom compartments under covers that are held in place by small screws. You can remove the optical drive, too;
Maybe that's why I initially steered clear of the Acer Ferrari 4000 with its black-checkered lid and "EAARRRrrrrrooom!" startup sound. (Acer says you can turn this off in Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Sounds.) But beneath its novelty......
The new Acer Ferrari 4000 pumps more horsepower and sports a new carbon fiber design.
Official Ferrari licensed, Carbon Fiber lid and rubber interior surface, Thin-and-light for a performance notebook, Excellent keyboard, Good-looking high resolution 15.4-inch WSXGA+ LCD display, Fast performance, Responsive touchpad with center four-way s...
Lacks Smart Card slot security authentication, No CrystalBrite technology, Average battery life, Bluetooth mouse is flaky, Fan exhibits loud noise and run constantly, Limited hot keys; missing multimedia keys, Expensive
While the Ferrari 4000 appears similar to the TravelMate 8100, there are a number of differences between the two models. To summarize, here is what we've discovered (aside from the obvious use of the different processors, chipset (RAM support) and materia...
A lot of laptop gaming enthusiasts are familiar with the high performance machines from Alienware, Voodoo, and other ? boutique? laptop companies. Dell, in an attempt to enter the boutique laptop market, released their XPS Gen 2 laptop. This machine...
Acer goes from the brilliant red design of the Acer Ferrari 3000 to a more conservative-but just as sleek-black checkered design. It retains some of the cool-looking red streaks along the side and front edge of the notebook, and yes, the yellow prancing h...
Design worthy of the Ferrari name. Carbon fiber cover. Fast graphics.
Noisy mouse buttons.
Through a partnership with the legendary carmaker, the thin-and-light Ferrari 4000 has a dazzling new design and new components for extra kick under the hood.
The cover is made from carbon fiber, which is stronger and lighter than aluminum. (Acer uses it only in its Ferrari line.) The interior of the Ferrari 4000 has a rubberized coating, perhaps emulating the look of Formula One tires. See the Acer...
The Acer Ferrari 4005WLMi (LX.FR406.035) PC Notebook features: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-37(1MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz) Radeon Xpress 200M Chipset, 1GB (512MB installed in each of two memory slots) DDR333 SDRAM (upgra...
Fast; stylish; full-featured; great screen and built to last.
Expensive and sometimes runs hot.
A closer look at Acer's shiny, red-accented Ferrari 4000 notebook range.
Inspired by the pricey cars that make many weak at the knees, Acer's Ferrari 4000 Series notebooks feature red trim and the Ferrari logo.
Stylish; comfortable to use
Should perform better
It's got the looks, but what about speed?
The Ferrari 4005WLMi is a well-designed notebook but, while Acer has tweaked the Ferrari's engine, it's still not in pole position in the world of portable computing Another year, another Acer Ferrari notebook powers its way into PCW. Unlike...
Acer and AMD are both sponsors of the Ferrari F1 team, and the relationship extends well beyond simply slapping each others logos on respective products.
The design€™s ace in the hole is unmistakably the genuine carbon-fibre lid. It looks stunning, and legitimately contributes to the unit€™s light weight and sturdy feel. A rubberised surface around the smiley-face keyboard rounds off the design emphasis....
Award: Recommended!

The Ferrari team may be struggling in Formula One this year, but Acer's latest Ferrari notebook blows away the competition.
Acer has put AMD's Turion to good use this time, showing that it can match up to the Pentium M in pretty much every respect. The Ferrari 4000 really does look great and represents a huge step forward from the 3200 model that we looked at before. Feature w...
It seems that Acer has taken this onboard and the new Ferrari 4000 is more understated - in fact the general opinion this time around is that it looks damn cool. When Benny reviewed the Ferrari 3200 notebook, the general consensus around the...
