So, it's been awhile since we've seen or heard from the Archos 604 WiFi, that new wireless-enabled portable media player may well put the Zune to shame. Well, we're here to give you some happy news -- according to TechWeb, this bundle of sexiness will ...
Well, we're here to give you some happy news -- according to TechWeb, this bundle of sexiness will be released in US in the next fortnight.
The new Archos 604 Portable Media Player (PMP) was given to the celebrity host, performers and presenters of the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) as part of the prestigious official gift bag. The Archos 604 is an outstandingly slim, large-screen PMP ...
The Archos 604 ($349.99 direct) is an update of the company's impressive AV 500, which handily won PC Magazine's Editors' Choice award when it came out. The new version has a slightly bigger screen and different button layout, but it retains many of ...
Lots of features. Very good video-recording capabilities. Excellent audio quality. Very good video quality. Removable battery. User manual is right on the device. Has an on-board PDF reader.
Button layout still isn't great. Many features that were included on its predecessor are now optional extras, including video recording and USB Host.
The Archos 604 is a very good portable media player, but it doesn't quite live up to its predecessor's high standard of sound quality. Also, many of the features that were standard on the AV500 are now optional extras, particularly the ability to ...
Editor's Note: Our preview (08/18/06) of the Archos 604 has been updated with a formal rating. The Archos 604 ($349.99 direct) is an update of the company's impressive AV 500, which handily won PC Magazine's Editors' Choice award when it came out....
It appears that Archos has got this portable media player gig down pat, as the 30GB 604, unveiled as an affordable replacement for the well-received AV500, has done quite a commendable job building itself a bit of buzz. Rather than altering too much ...
Rather than altering too much of a good thing, Archos decided to just tweak the 604, adding several meaningful extras while removing a few advanced features in order to get that price tag down to near-bargain basement levels. Although the 604...
The Archos 604 has been reviewed at great lengths by many other websites, so I will not go into great detail into how to operate the player. I will almost strictly give my opinions. I guess you may consider this a mini-review. It will be along the ...
The 604 is not only a polarizing unit for its looks. The whole experience is love/hate. Several times already, I have convinced myself that I would sell it in the morning. After all, its lack of codec support, average audio quality, and need for ...
Neat and elegant design ; much improved user interface ; excellent screen
Needs DVR Station to record TV
The slimmed-down features list bothered us at first, but what Archos has done is given you the choice -- if you don't want to record TV shows, you don't need to buy the dock and can save yourself £70 off the price of an AV 500. Improved design and ...
This portable video player is the replacement for Archos' well-loved AV 500. Design Our initial impression of the 604 was that it was smaller and lighter than its predecessor, but a quick look at the spec sheets reveals that there's very little...
Award: Hot Product!

- Entering a range of portable solutions for video playback in the digital age is the Archos 604, part of their new multimedia player series and offering the home user a range of interesting features.
Excellent quality audio and video, vibrant 4.3" widescreen display, packed full of features, great interface and controls, excellent range of optional extras
You don't get a lot with the basic package, the DVR Station is good, but not good enough to completely replace a conventional DVR
The Archos 604 is a portable multimedia dream. It'll do justice to your audio and video on the move and a great range of accessories like the DVR Station add DVR style functionality
Primarily the 604 is a portable player, you'll find an MP3 player built-in along with a suite of extras like a PDF reader, sound recorder and photo album. However, Archos has a wide range of accessories available for the new multimedia player...
The PMP daddy
Great video playback; Top sound; Excellent screen; Impressive Wi Fi and web browser
Confusing interface; No dock or plug ins
Silky smooth video playback and stunning sound ensures that Archos remains king of the PMP. Ultimately this is a very good product, but not quite a truly great one.
Archos 604 Wi-FiThe PMP daddyThe Doyen of portable media players is back with its latest video-playing, music-blaring, web-browsing offering. Boasting an improved screen, a redesigned menu system and Wi-Fi, the 604 from French specialist Archos...
Archos's video boxes: Smartness up. Price down
Excellent picture; Interface; Design and price
Fewer features than the AV500
If you don't require TV recording (a -70 dock is needed for that), this is the state of the art. Even if you don't, it's still worth a go.
Archos 604 Personal Media PlayerArchos's video boxes: Smartness up. Price downArchos's AV500 has been the best PMP around for the past year. and now the French company is replacing it.
It has a 30GB hard drive, which is pretty impressive for a device only 16mm deep
Style ; Excellent colour
Features
As we mentioned earlier, an optional DVR Station can be bought to expand the functionality. This works well, allowing you to both record from a variety of sources (including a TV or Sky box) and playback material from the 604 on an external source. ...
Archos claims that you can cram around 85 feature-length movies, 300,000 photos or 15,000 songs into the 604, which is pretty impressive for a device only 16mm deep. The AV500 was a multi-talented gadget, as it could both play back and record video...
