Cowon D2 (8GB, black) review

The Cowon D2 MP3 player offers a sleek and compact design dominated by a lovely, touch-sensitive screen. The device is packed with almost every feature in the book, including video playback, voice recording, and an FM tuner. The D2 comes with a handy ...

The Cowon D2 is pricier than similarly featured MP3 players, and it's a bit heavy. The touch interface won't appeal to all users, specifically active ones.

If you can get on board with the Cowon D2's PDA-like touch screen interface, the reward is great-sounding audio, a smorgasbord of features, and a fantastic battery life.

The latest device to arrive on U.S. shores--or at least, in the CNET offices--is the Cowon D2, a solid and compact player dominated by a 2.5-inch screen. The Cowon D2 comes in black or white versions, but the white is only offered in 4GB, whereas...

Review: Cowon D2 portable media player

By Matthew Ruiz

It packs a touch screen and video playback in a package smaller than a stack of post-it notes. Will it deliver, or wind up with the rest of the nano-killers?

Size, ability to play lossless audio formats, easy file transfer process, glorious touch-screen

Capacity, awkward interface, lack of accessories

The COWON D2: Design - Very good The Cowon D2 is a little smaller than a post-it note. Since the D2 acts as a removable flash drive when connected to your computer through the USB port, we were able to drag and drop files into the player with...

Cowon D2

By Michael Brown

Cowon provides a wealth of choice where SanDisk sets severe limits: The D2 supports not only MP3, WMA, and secure WMA, but also OGG, FLAC, and even WAV. Click Read More for more.

Support for all types of media, including lossless audio formats

Not enough built-in memory

The D2 is supremely versatile, it sounds fabulous, and it's certainly priced right. Oh, what we wouldn't give to trade its highfalutin touch screen for a simple control wheel and a couple of buttons

Cowon D2 - Review of the Cowon D2

By Tim Kridel

Cowon scores a bulls-eye with its touchscreen-enabled, flash-based PMP.

>• Beautiful design, • Superb-looking videos, • Intuitive touchscreen interface, • Solid battery life

>• Limited onboard storage, • Doesn't support online video stores, Storage: 4GB, Video Formats: AVI and WMV, or custom transcoded to D2 in QVGA (320 x 240) format, Audio Formats:MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, WAV, APE, , , , , , , , the solid-state D2 undercuts ...

The Cowon D2 packs a lot of functionality into one very small device. The nano is still the best flash-bashed music player, but if you want the ability to play video and an ultra-light design, we say give the identically priced Cowon D2 a hard...

Cowon D2

By Tim Gideon

The tiny D2 is nothing to write home about, but it does have a few things the iPod nano doesn't--like a 2.5-inch screen and an SD card slot.

Easy to load with music, songs, and video. Lightweight and small. Sharp LCD. Touch screen. Expandable up to 12GB with SD card. TV-out for video playback.

Interface can be annoying. Scroll-bar awkwardly placed. Images take too long to load and render.

The tiny D2 is nothing to write home about, but it does have a few things the iPod nano doesn'tlike a 2.5-inch screen and an SD card slot.

Cowon's D2 flash portable media player has this going for it: It doesn't try to do too much, and what it does, it does pretty well. For just $20 more, however, the Cowon D2 offers the same capacity along with video playback on a larger screen, an...
