Sony NWZ-E436F Walkman (4GB, black) review

By Jasmine France

The Sony E-Series Walkman is very competitively priced and features a compact design with a nice, bright screen. It's easy to use and offers a variety of desirable extras, such as an FM tuner, a user-customizable EQ, and support for Rhapsody To Go and ...

The Sony E-Series Walkman tops out at 8GB and doesn't offer memory expansion. There's no integrated podcast support, and subscription-content syncing is slow.

Sony Corp.

Sony NWZ-E436F Walkman

Cheap ; easy to use ; desirable extras such as an FM tuner, user-customisable EQ and support for Rhapsody To Go and Amazon Video On Demand ; great sound quality

No memory expansion ; no integrated podcast support ; subscription-content syncing is slow

The Sony E-Series Walkman is an excellent option for anyone looking for an easy-to-use MP3 player with a pocketable design, a long battery life, handy features, and solid sound quality

The Sony E-Series Walkman, on the other hand, is just as easy to use as the iPod nano, offers a similar array of features and delivers great sound quality -- but costs less. The Sony E-Series Walkman is an excellent option for anyone looking for...

Sony NWZ-E436F

By Nikhil Pradhan

The E436F is one of the better sounding players in the top 5. The player uses a simple and good looking interface and has phenomenal battery life. One complaint though is the heavy price-tag in spite of the player only offering 4GB.

A slim, sexy portable media player from Sony

By Andrew Kliem

GREAT video playback and an intuitive interface makes the NWZ-E436F a viable choice.

Intuitive menu, slim design, good LCD screen

Cannot record from radio, can't make playlists on the unit itself, no voice recorder

A fairly impressive portable media player, the Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F doesn't do anything incredible and it has a few niggling issues but its combination of good quality video playback and intuitive interface make it a viable choice.

The interface is pretty similar to Sony Ericsson Walkman phones, so fans will be quite familiar with the look and feel. The NWZ-E436F also lacks a voice recorder, which some users will miss. We are big fans of the interface and control scheme Sony...

Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F 4GB Review - MP3 Reviews

By Stuart Andrews

Stuart listens to and watches Sony's Walkman NWZ-E436F. Is he impressed?

Just last year it was hard to believe that Sony's Walkman brand had ever had the same cachet as Apple's iPod. Shackled by proprietary standards and wretched software, Sony's digital music players couldn't compete no matter how good the sound...

Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F

A fairly impressive portable media player, the Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F doesn't do anything incredible and it has a few niggling issues but its combination of good quality video playback and intuitive interface make it a viable choice.

Packing in all the features you?d expect from a modern media player, Sony?s NWZ-E436F is a very solid unit. The interface is pretty similar to past Sony Ericsson walkman phones, so fans will be quite familiar with the look and feel. The NWZ-E436F...

Sony NWZ-E438F (8GB)

By Nate Lanxon

120GB of storage and the addition of the Genius feature make up for the slightly reduced battery life over the previous model, reaffirming the iPod classic as our favorite portable audio player on record.

Huge capacity ; great sound quality ; support for high-quality audio and video formats ; decent screen ; integration with iTunes for music, movie and TV show downloads ; heaps of accessories available ; sturdy design

Only one capacity option ; lackluster EQ options ; weaker battery life compared with previously available classic

will always be more suitable for the gym, but for other purposes the classic's size and weight shouldn't be an issue
