Dell Latitude 2100

Rugged design with rubber cover ; touch-screen option

Tiny keyboard ; big and heavy for a Netbook

Dell Latitude 2100

The Dell Latitude 2100 is a lot like a box of Froot Loops: It's clearly meant for kids but also easily enjoyed (sometimes secretly) by adults.

Cool, tough rubber exterior coating. Adult-sized keyboard also accommodates the smallest hands. Responsive trackpad. Snappy performance. Clear window on front of chassis meant for student's name tag

Tattletale web browsing light a little too Big Brother for our tastes. Optional extras drive up the price tag quickly. Chunky monkey power adapter

Dell Latitude 2100 - A Review of the Dell Latitude 2100

By Joanna Stern

Student-rugged design, Unique education features, Comfortable keyboard with antimicrobial option, Speedy performance

Larger and heavier than most netbooks, Below-average battery life

Above the display is a 1.3-megapixel Webcam, which provided extremely clear images in a Skype video chat. A colleague saw little motion blur when we quickly waved and could even make out facial details. The microphone on our unit did not work.

Aimed primarily at the education market, the Dell Latitude 2100 is an interesting take on the netbook. It's worth a look for its unique feature set, including an especially rugged design and an optional touchscreen

Netbooks, while as popular as ever, have settled into a fairly routine existence, with thin plastic shells, Intel Atom CPUs, Windows XP and 10-inch displays. When a company attempts to take these basic parts and dress them up with unique features, our...

Dell Latitude 2100

By Alun Taylor

If you can bargain for the right spec Latitude 2100 at the right price, you'll have an excellent netbook and one we prefer to Dell's 'consumer' version.

Its rather angular design aside, we think the Latitude 2100 is the best Dell netbook to date. The rubberised coating should ensure long-term survival even in the hands of nippers, while the option of 2GB of Ram, the revised SD card slot design and the ...

Review A side-effect of Dell's last internal reorganisation is that the company has separate teams working on very similar products but aimed at different kinds of user. Taking the case in hand, the Latitude 2100 is a netbook aimed at major...
