Most upgrades are hidden under the hood ; features the average user will notice, such as Mail, clash with Apple's own user interface design ; some features are unavailable on hardware older than a year or two
Though its new user features have mixed appeal, Tiger's technological changes and speed improvements make this an enticing upgrade, especially for those who passed on Panther.

After months of testing, we are finally able to publish our thoughts on Apple's latest OS. Is Tiger really as revolutionary as it has been built up to be?
I've been a Mac/PC user for almost a full year now - it's very hard to believe that last June, I took a (very expensive) gamble on a platform of which I knew nothing about and as a result, emerged with a totally new perspective on something that I had ...
Apple's latest OS X release (10.4) is about to hit the streets. Tiger brings a whole host of improvements and new features to OS X. John Siracusa reviews the new release in his usual style.
Mac OS X Server is Apple's answer to the "if onlys." A completely different operating system from Mac OS 8.5, OS X Server not only addresses all of its predecessor's shortcomings but also retains the flavor and familiarity of the graphical user......

There's no doubt that Tiger has been one of the most keenly anticipated upgrades for the Mac - it heralds an era of 64-bit computing, and new core graphics and audio, as well as delicious eye-candy in the form of Dashboard's Widgets.
Snappier feel, Spotlight, Dashboard, Improved Safari, Better Mail client
No upgrade deal
Tiger is a solid upgrade that brings a good range of improvements. Spotlight and Dashboard are the stars

Tiger is a giant leap over its predecessor, Panther. In my tests, the operating system seemed stable and relatively bug-free, and performance was excellent on both my new test system and even my ageing Powerbook.
Spotlight on Spotlight The breakthrough feature in OS X version 10.4 - the reason to get Tiger at all - is Spotlight. Is this latest release of Mac OS X worth $199 bucks? It searches through files and folders, all Apple applications, and major...
Eighteen months after the release of Panther, Apple's Mac OS X 10.4, codenamed Tiger, is finally here, and it has been well worth the wait.
