By Dana Wollman

Despite a few hiccups, this PC tune-up software packs a mix of customizable settings and automated options for pros and novices alike.

Foolproof interface, Medley of advanced and set-and-forget options, Thorough scanning, Low performance impact

Might need to tweak system settings to avoid a crash, Hit-or-miss Repair All function

Iolo System Mechanic 8.0 was on its way to winning another Editors' Choice-until the program started acting up, that is. Out of the box, we were not able to repair all of our system's problems in one fell swoop. We had to tweak our security settings ...

As for the results, before we let System Mechanic 8.0 scan and repair our notebook's problems, the system scored 1,737 on PCMark Vantage, a benchmark that measures application performance in Windows Vista. The VerdictIolo System Mechanic 8.0 was...

Iolo System Mechanic 8 - PC

By Chris Hall

Will this tune up your PC?

Brings all tools into one place, various levels of control, easy to use

Duplicates many existing system tools, basic level can affect some other software items, ongoing costs

Whilst it is a neat piece of software, the real decision will be whether you consider it valuable enough to buy the ongoing subscription

Review: System Mechanic 8 utility software

By Anthony Dhanendran

Keep your computer running smoothly

Great computer-cleaning and tweaking tools ; Fast and efficient

Susbscriptions don't make sense

As it stands, though, the standard System Mechanic 8 product is an impressively comprehensive set of tools that covers almost all of the bases for most users. It's true that most users won't use most of the tools available, but if you need them, ...

Advertisement One thing we aren't convinced about is the subscription - unlike most utility programs, System Mechanic requires you to subscribe in order for it to work. As it stands, though, the standard System Mechanic 8 product is an...

System Mechanic 8.0

By Cornelius M. Pirch

US Note: This is an automatic translation. The text can differ from the original review.

The Tuning Tool System Mechanic scores in the test with some good features. We also found many inconsistencies. ...

System Mechanic has some good ideas and functions, but these are by far too large paternalism of the user and too much self-promotion of the producer again

The installation is quick and easy, but an examination of the serial number on the Internet. The first thing after starting the program notice is the call to his license for only 14,95 $ for one year to extend ,...
