HP's Photosmart C4480 color inkjet multifunction printer is inexpensive ($100 as of August 4, 2008), and its prints look nice. But it's slow, and its design is a bit skimpy.

Printed photos aren't the best quality, but HP's cheap inkjet multifunction can easily print and scan documents, despite a minimal feature set.

The HP Photosmart C4480 has many of the shortcomings you would expect from an entry-level inkjet multifunction printer, including a minimal feature set and slow print speeds.

The HP Photosmart C4480's price tag is certainly appealing, and the running cost even more so. As a cheap document printer and scanner the Photosmart C4480 serves well, though you may want to spend a little extra for better quality photos.

The Photosmart C4280 all-in-one was one of our favorite printers for 2007/8, and now the new C4480 has arrived to replace it. The new model is the same size as the old one, prints at the same speed, takes the same cartridges, has the same interface ...

- Very slow, - Visible ink drops on photos, - Tiny screen

The C4480 is slower and not quite as sharp as Canon's excellent MP630. Nevertheless, it's a lot cheaper to buy and very economical run when paired with HP's XL cartridges.
