The Kodak ESP 7 color inkjet multifunction printer beats the competition hands-down in ink costs. Unfortunately, it's very slow, and its print quality on plain paper is underwhelming.
Economical ink costs, automatic duplexer
Very slow Subpar plain-paper print quality
We liked the low ink costs and extra features that the Kodak ESP 7 has to offer. Unfortunately, slow print speeds and subpar print quality make it difficult to recommend
Another drawback is that the ESP 7 is painfully slow, producing text speeds of 6.7 pages per minute and graphics speeds of 2.3 ppm on our tests--slower than average, and nowhere near Kodak's claims of 32 ppm for text and 30 ppm for graphics. We...

Wi-Fi connectivity, easy to use, automatic duplexing, separate photo paper tray
Slow print speeds, poor colour document print quality, can't perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Kodak's ESP 7 inkjet multifunction printer has cheap consumables and is easy to use, but slow print speeds and generally poor print quality dampen its appeal.
Instead of broadcasting its own wireless network as some printers do (the Brother HL-5370DW mono laser printer, for example), the Kodak ESP 7 inkjet multifunction must join an existing Wi-Fi network. Aimed at home users, Kodak's ESP 7 inkjet...
It is time to print those photos stored on your hard drive with Kodak's all-in-one printer. This device is easy to use, comes with a lot of connectivity options, and can produce affordable photos anytime.
Easy to use ; Cheap inks ; Good Interface ; Scan and Print options ; Good Software
Bulky ; Photos suffered from banding ; Slow draft prints
The ESP 7 tries to leap ahead of the pack by claiming to have fast print speeds and good quality photo output. Unfortunately, it falls short in most of these areas, but it is relatively cheap to run.
Cheap running cost (but expensive to buy initially), Wireless and Ethernet connectivity
Colour casting on photo prints, Slow text prints, Visible print droplets
Design and featuresSomehow skipping the even numbers in the logical iteration of things, the ESP 7 is the follow-up to Kodak's previous multifunction device (MFD), the ESP 5. This is where the similarities end though, as Kodak can't lay claim that...

This printer/copier/scanner unit is an evolutionary upgrade of the ESP5. The big difference between the units is that the ESP7 has in-built wireless networking connectivity as well as USB and direct input from memory cards. There are now two paper ...
The ESP7 uses the brilliant Kodak system of print adjustment based on bar codes printed on the backs of the different paper types and read by the printer. Output is consistently good to excellent, the variation in print quality being related to paper ...
Paper handling is not always precise. We needed to tighten up the paper guides fairly often to stop the paper pulling through at an angle. And setup is finicky - read the instructions carefully and do not deviate from them one iota.
The wireless networking capability makes this an ideal all-in-one unit for a home with a number of networked computers. We have now been able to set up the printer driver on a computer at the other end of the house and print at a distance. We like the ...
Kodak's latest all-in-one adds wireless networking to its already impressive features list. Is it the perfect all-rounder?
Good print quality. Built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Easy network sharing
Noisy, slow network printing. Colours can appear a bit washed out

When Kodak entered the inkjet all-in-one market a couple of years ago, many people wondered if it wasn't too late, given the maturity of the marketplace. In fact, the company's all-in-ones have sold well enough for it to introduce four new machines. ...
The ESP 7 is a well-specified all-in-one from a manufacturer that should know about printing photos. Its running costs continue to be market leaders and, as long as you can live with the slow and noisy print, it represents rather good value
