BenQ W5000 projector

By Katie Scott

Did this light up our world?

Fantastic image quality, bright enough for most rooms, plenty of connections

No horizontal shift, lacking zoom, only HDMI 1.2

The W5000 delivers fantastic image quality, making this a great choice for your home cinema

August 2008 - When the BenQ W5000 arrived all boxed up, you can't help thinking it must be mighty precious to afford so much packaging. Once on, you can adjust all four feet to make sure your image is centred onto the screen or wall but with a...

BenQ W5000 Full HD DLP Projector

By John Archer

Award: Recommended!

If you're after a Full HD DLP projector, BenQ's W5000 ticks most of the right boxes.

The presence of the noise we've just described effectively means you have a choice to make regarding the W5000. If your image tastes are driven predominantly by sharpness, detail and vibrancy, then at -1,359.25 the W5000 is just about as big a no ...

Heading into the W5000's pleasingly no-nonsense but perfectly clear onscreen menus uncovers rather more flexibility than I'd have expected of a sub-?1,500 Full HD DLP projector. For despite being a DLP model with a Full HD resolution, we've found...

Excellent contrast and blacks, extremely sharp, Brilliant Colour system is great

Only 1.2x zoom, limited vertical shift

When it's able to be set-up correctly, the BenQ W5000 displays images with amazing clarity and colour.

BenQ's W5000 HT Projector is more expensive than models with competing specifications on paper, but it justifies its price-tag with its brilliant picture quality. In terms of image quality, the W5000 is ahead of the other 1080p projectors we've...

Preview: BenQ W5000

The Taiwanese projector specialist unveils its low-cost full-HD beamer with a high-end video processor. Here are our first impressions.

It's no surprise why shoe-string budget hunters have a soft spot for this Taiwanese brand. Not only are the company's DLP home theater projectors one of the most affordable among its competitors, they are also no pushover when rendering amazing...

BenQ W5000

Using the Texas Instruments DarkChip 2, the BenQ W5000 has images some projectors would die for

DarkChip 2 DLP ; Full 1080p ; Good contrast

Expensive

Not even close. But if we could afford it, we'd still find it very hard to resist
