Logitech Harmony One

Award: Editor's Choice!

Sleek design, both in terms of cosmetics and ergonomics ; sharp LCD that offers a touch-screen interface and touch-sensitive buttons for navigation of onscreen menus ; Web programmable via Windows or Mac PCs ; excellent button layout and design ; ...

No RF compatibility ; somewhat pricey

While it's missing an RF option, Logitech's Harmony One is one of the best--if not the best--universal remote we've ever tested.

But unlike RF, IR can't penetrate walls, doors, and other obstructions, so if you have equipment hidden in cabinets or closets, your best choice--until Logitech comes out with an RF version of the Harmony One--is the Harmony 890, Harmony 1000,...

Review: Logitech Harmony One

By Grant Clauser

I've reviewed so many Harmony remotes you'd think I'm biased toward them. Well, OK, I am. The Logitech Harmony One is the best so far and perfect for a multi-component home entertainment system.

While there certainly are systems that require more than the Harmony can handle, it doesn't emit radio frequency signals, making it poorly suited for controlling an audio system from a separate room. It's not Bluetooth-compatible, making it useless ...

Logitech Harmony One

Award: Editor's Choice!

Logitech's newest universal remote features better ergonomics and adds a gorgeous color touch-screen display, but still offers dead-simple programming and one-touch control over all your home-theater gear.

Excellent setup software. Color touch-screen LCD. Feels lighter and more comfortable than its predecessor. Better buttons

Pricey. Touch screen requires you to look at the remote to be sure you hit the correct buttons. Glossy black finish shows fingerprints and is prone to smudges

Exit Logitech Harmony Remote 880, enter Logitech Harmony One. The Harmony One throws away these hard-to-use keys in favor of large, easy-to-push rectangular and square ones with rounded soft edges. (Check out the slide show for button...

Logitech Harmony One

By Mathew Honan

Logitech's 2.2-inch color touchscreen remote definitely had the looks of the bunch. Testing proved it had the brains, too. Instead of forcing you to toggle between various devices, the Harmony One is activity-based - select "watch a video" and it ...

Responsive touchscreen is a smooth operator. Software-based setup easier to handle than a doorknob.

Some automated functions are kooky and need to be manually reprogrammed. No RF means you have to stand right in front of your gear.

Logitech Harmony One Review

By Frank Lewis

Programmable remote with integrated touchscreen

Large, responsive buttons ; very flexible setup software ; great touchscreen

Doesn't have dedicated red, green, yellow and blue buttons ; sluggish software

The sluggish software means that it can take time to perfect the Logitech Harmony One's settings, but once you've got it working with your kit you'll find it's a seriously powerful universal remote that still manages to retain the feel of a ...

Since not everyone wants a noisy, unattractive PC in the centre of the home, that's where Media Center Extenders come into play. One of the first extenders to hit market is the -230 Linksys Media Center Extender DMA2200, which promises to deliver...

Logitech Harmony One

The LCD display at the top is touchscreen, allowing you to access functions by scrolling through a graphical menu

Touchscreen display ; Easy to set up ; Can control numerous devices with ease

Need a PC or Mac connection ; May need some fiddling with when putting in codes

The remote learns control codes via Logitech's own web database, accessible using a PC or Apple Mac. There are currently command setups for over 5,000 individual bits of kit

Logitech has firmly ensconced itself in the world of AV through its Harmony universal remote series and, to a lesser effect, its iPod docks. So following on from the PDA-style king of the range, the Harmony 1000, this is a more...

Logitech has done an excellent job with the physical design of the Harmony One - it fits comfortably in your hand and the buttons are sensibly placed. We've seen several remotes from Logitech's Harmony range in the past - most recently the Harmony...
