Samsung UN55B7000

Produces relatively deep black levels ; accurate color ; very good dejudder processing ; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel ; extensive feature set with Yahoo widgets, network streaming, and a lot of built-in content ; extremely energy-efficient

Expensive ; less-uniform screen than other LCDs ; poor off-angle viewing ; backlight fluctuates with program brightness ; dark areas tinged bluer ; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms ; red frame isn't for everyone

Although its picture quality can't quite live up to the high price, the Samsung UNB7000 series is a technological and design tour de force.

For comparison purposes, we have a good selection of high-end HDTVs on-hand, including the LED-powered Samsung LN46A950 and Sony KDL-55XBR8, the standard Samsung LN52A650 LCD, and a pair of plasmas, the Panasonic TC-46PG10 and our reference...

Samsung UN46B7000

By Chuck Cage

Think of Samsung's 46-inch 7000 as an aspiring model: impossibly thin, well put together, and connected to the Net 24/7. (It has a name you can't pronounce, too.) To attain the set's waifish profile, Samsung replaced the standard fluorescent backlight ...

At 1.2 inches thick and with all its input/output jacks on the side rather than the back, this set can be hung like a framed picture. Deep color and 120-Hz-mode refresh adjustments let you dial in picture and processing to suit your taste. ...

Glossy screen picks up quite a bit of glare. Internet widgets load slower than a Uwe Boll torrent. Dynamic-contrast control produces visible pulsing when maxed out

Samsung UN55B7000 LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

By Richard Baguley

The UN55B7000 is in the middle of Samsung's new Luxia LED TV range, below the 8 series models, but above the 6 series. It's available in 3 sizes: the 55 inches (the UN55B7000), 46 inches (the LN46B7000) and 40 inches (the LN 40B7000). It doesn't have ...

Although it's hard to draw too many conclusions from our limited hands on at the CES show, the signs for the UN55B7000 look good; the design is clean and the demos look very promising. But we'll have to wait until the display is released before we can ...
