Adobe Premiere Elements 4

By Meghan J. Clark

Adobe hits another high note with its consumer-targeted video-editing software.

Functionality of Premiere Pro in novice-friendly format, Cross integration with Photoshop Elements, Straightforward design

Some editing functions too dumbed down, Applying themes and effects not intuitive in timeline view

There are a mere 17 audio effects, most of which serve to improve the quality of your audio rather than make your subject sound like he's been sucking helium. However, one of Premiere Elements 4's nicest features is the ability to mix audio during ...

Adobe Premiere Elements 4

By Jan Ozer

The latest edition of this video-editing software introduces a new interface and features that make it stronger than ever, but two missing capabilities may keep it out of your toolkit.

Blu-ray production capabilities, new creative filters, image stabilization, audio mixer, YouTube output

No AVCHD support ; no support for HD formats burned to DVD±R discs ; no time-code-based scene detection for HDV capture

A solid choice unless you shoot in AVCHD or want to deliver an HD experience on DVD±R discs.

A new interface and a number of new features bring Adobe Premiere Elements 4 to near parity with the best of the best in the consumer video-editing crowd. Second, unlike such programs as Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 11 and Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus,...

Adobe Premiere Elements 4 Review

By Denny Atkin

Solid editing tools ; numerous effects and transitions ; publishes directly to YouTube ; easy sound-editing tools ; takes advantage of multicore processors

Organizer is very slow ; no support for AVCHD import, DivX export, or HD DVD burning ; streamlined interface makes some features difficult to discover

A very capable video editor that's nicely integrated with Photoshop Elements, Adobe's Premiere Elements is a particularly good choice if you want to publish to YouTube or portable devices.

Adobe Premiere Elements, the $99 little brother to Adobe's $799 Premiere Pro CS3 video editor, has finally established an identity of its own with Version 4. Like Photoshop Elements 6 (available separately, or in a bundle with Premiere Elements 4...

Adobe Premiere Elements 4

The original version of Premiere was a proper brain-teaser. Built for professional video editors and multimedia developers, it was power-packed and full of features, and came with a steep learning curve.

Good value, Impressive features, Easy to use

Power, simplicity and fun for video editing

Adobe Premiere Elements 4

Prettier, and finally YouTube friendly, but dumber.

"This YouTube thing might be catching on." Two years or so after that dawned on most people, Adobe has added an upload-to-YouTube feature to its consumer video editor, Premiere Elements 4

Adobe - Premiere Elements 4

Even the keenest home video enthusiast is unlikely to pull 500 from a pocket for a copy of Adobe's premium video editor, Premiere Pro CS3, so it was a good idea for the company to introduce ...

The improvements in Premiere Elements 4 are all useful, though none is earth-shattering. It's a neater, tighter video editor and very good value for its asking price. For those whose interests cover still photography as well as video, the bundle with ...

Review: Adobe Premiere Elements 4 video-editing software

By Cliff Joseph

A strong update, but compatibility problems remain

Tidy screens ; Improved audio controls and title tools

Only works with Intel processors ; Can be complex for beginners

Our biggest complaint about Premiere Elements has always been that it is very temperamental about the type of PC it requires and unfortunately that hasn't changed with this latest version.

Premiere Elements 4.0 still doesn't like processors made by AMD, so if your PC doesn't have 'Intel Inside' then it probably won't work with this software. But, assuming it runs, Premiere Elements 4.0 is quite a good upgrade. Instead of the...
