Unique combat, Engaging story, Horror atmosphere

No multiplayer

Part of the game developer's new "quality over quantity" design philosophy, Dead Space, the creation of the EA Redwood Shores studio, manages to get the most out of a pretty dull setting and scenario. If you want to experience the complete package ...

Dead Space

By Travis Moses

Dead Space draws inspiration from a variety of sources but its most obvious reference point is the movie Aliens. The simple yet effective story centres on a three-man crew of space engineers who are sent to investigate a distress signal aboard the USG ...

The creatures in Dead Space hide inside their human hosts and mutate into disgusting creatures, much like the baddie from the film The Thing. You're confined to a single spaceship and the game takes you through the different compartments, from the...

Repetitive mission objectives, Close-quarters combat is troublesome

In space no one can hear you frag

By TAN KIT HOONG

EA delivers a scare-fest that takes a page out of the best sci-fi horror films.

Fun and varied gameplay ; gorgeous graphics ; Zero-G sequences are fun

Monsters won't cross over into rooms other than the one they originated from ; end of level bosses relatively easy to kill

In fact, the game gives you quite a variety of different tasks on every level so it's not all just hack-and-slash, or in this case, shoot-and-dismember.

Dead Space

By Anthony O'Connor

DEAD Space is intelligently written, beautiful to look at and scary - not to mention gory beyond belief!

Resident Evil borrowed heavily from zombie movies, especially George Romero's Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. Dead Space is not original in terms of plot and some of its aesthetics. Dead Space similarly takes its...
