Wide-ranging improvements and an excellent new Party Play mode make Guitar Hero 5 a great way to bring some rock into your living room.
If you haven't played Guitar Hero, then you must've been living under a rock. Guitar Hero continues to help people release their musical frustrations through guitar controller mashing with Guitar Hero 5. We all are looking forward to Guitar Hero's ...
The start of a new era in rhythm rocking?
Wide-ranging setlist, loads of new multiplayer modes, DS compatibility for Wii owners, Party Play and Mii Freestyle are excellent additions, far more approachable to casual users
Instrument calibration is awkward
Activision has really pushed the boat out with Guitar Hero 5, creating the most approachable and enthralling rhythm-rocking game to date
Back on track?
Plenty of tracks to play, gameplay is as simple as ever, can import old tracks
Could be seen as more of the same, You might have to pay for importing tracks
We played, we had fun, and are happy to report that Guitar Hero fans will be happy when the game hits 18 September.
Guitar Hero 5 review: Wide-ranging improvements and an excellent new Party Play mode make Guitar Hero 5 a great way to bring some rock into your living room.
Party Play mode is superbly social • All songs available right from the get-go • Improved visuals • Music studio is much more accessible
Lacklustre song import feature • Vocalists need controller to activate star power
Guitar Hero 5 is available for AU$89.95 for the stand-alone game, or AU$179.95 for the game bundled with guitar peripheral. While World Tour was a great debut, Guitar Hero 5 is a more refined, more accessible game that better fulfils the promise of...
The Guitar Hero franchise has been a forerunner in the virtual music genre since 2005, but there's no denying that the series has lost some of its luster over the years.
A huge assortment of modes and features, massive playlist
Virtual Cobain is creepy, lacks the charm and personality of the original
Guitar Hero has been around forever and honestly, I was starting to get a little tired of formula. I think it says a lot that games like GH5 and Beatles Rock Band barely registered on my radar; truth be told, I'm way more excited for DJ Hero because ...
The Guitar Hero franchise has been a forerunner in the virtual music genre since 2005, but there's no denying that the series has lost some of its lustre over the years. Can Guitar Hero 5 revive things?
Guitar Hero has been around forever and honestly, we were starting to get a little tired of the formula. But after seeing Guitar Hero 5 in action, I have to say that I'm not quite ready to give up my plastic instruments yet. With a wide selection of ...
The videogame music genre has been doing the rounds for several years, and if it first felt like a passing fad, the inordinate amount of titles, and their related success, is more than enough evidence to prove that they're not going anywhere. Love ...
The new Party Play mode that lets you jump right in and play ; The 85 tracks that are available right out of the box ; Playing a Gorillaz track as Johnny Cash
The lack of any major, compelling new features ; The feeling the series needs a major overhaul to keep it fresh
Guitar Hero 5 is another near-perfect solo for Neversoft and Activision. There are plenty of small tweaks that ensure the game is worth a look, but ultimately, we feel the franchise is long overdue for a complete overhaul.
