Left 4 Dead mixes film noir shivery tension with slick camera angles and offers ample opportunity to explode rotting heads with a well aimed burst from your assault rifle
When you make the awesome head-busting kill before your team mates and finally see off the marauding horde baying for your blood
Exciting and chilling at times, Left 4 Dead is worth the time however, the single player mode is unlikely to have you coming back too many times. The multiplayer games on the other hand will most likely take on a life off their own.
Platform Tested: Xbox 360 Genre: Action ESRB: M for Mature I decided it would be more interesting to play Left 4 Dead with the lights off, and boy, was that a mistake. This is one frightening game. L4D doesn't stray far from the standard zombie ...
Awesome graphics, great game play, and terrifying zombies.
Little direction given, so it's easy for players to get stuck.
Left 4 Dead is eerily entertaining, like fighting your way through a zombie movie that never ends (until you beat it).
For more on this game, see 1Up.com's review of Left 4 Dead. L4D doesn't stray far from the standard zombie plot: There's an epidemic in which everyone turns into zombies except for you and three other survivors.
Left4Dead is a new FPS that revives the FPS Horror genre but will it do well in SLI and CrossFire? We grabbed 2 EVGA GTX-280's and 2 Diamond 4870 1GB and rushed to our rig... [
Online play with a group of friends is a blast and we'd have to say that the only thing missing from this epic title is you
We've relished the movies about it. We've daydreamed about it happening in our own lives. We've even drawn up detailed plans for how to survive the admittedly unlikely event of a zombie apocalypse (answer: barricade ourselves in the local Costco). ...
Unrelenting zombie-killing action ; satisfying cooperative campaigns ; addictive Versus mode
Only two of the four campaigns are available in Versus mode at launch
Left 4 Dead, Valve Software's new multiplayer first-person shooter, delivers that awesomely terrifying experience to us. Abandoned metropolises, a ragtag band of hapless strangers, and an endless horde of infected humans-all the staples of a nail ...
Left 4 Dead is a monstrously fun co-op title that has you helping your friends survive a zombie invasion while a sadistic AI god called the Director throws death at you from all angles. Welcome to the game that will make PC gaming cool again.
The Source engine still looks great, The sound design, from the zombies to the guns, serves the game beautifully, The game may seem short at first, but you'll be sucked into the varied experiences you have every time you play, Co-op is an underrated ...
20 levels? It could still use a few more, It would have been nice to have more variety in weapons. A rocket-launcher, maybe? Some melee weapons?, Servers can still be a bit glitchy, Environments could feel a little more alive, many areas in the game ...
Welcome to the first zombie movie we've seen that's actually any good. Left 4 Dead finally gets gaming away from the trigger-point mechanic: you have no idea if a dozen zombies are around the corner, or one, or none.
The difference between Left 4 Dead and standard multiplayer co-op games is subtle: there's no point-scoring element and no respawn. In other games, the more enemies you kill the higher you score. In Left 4 Dead's standard mode, you can't win – you can ...
With last years demo giving us a sample of the great game play on offer in Left 4 Dead, it was inevitable that at some point we would try out ...
Left 4 Dead is a good old fashioned FPS that relies on team work to get you through each stage. For hardcore players you will need to set it to Expert otherwise it's a bit too easy - with each chapter on Advanced taking just over an hour to complete. ...
Escape the zombie apocalypse - again
Left 4 Dead is a great game, if you have the braaaains
Unlike the many games that rely largely on the feeling of being alone to create tension, Left 4 Dead is focused on cooperation. Advertisement As a single-player game Left 4 Dead works fine, but it's far better played online. Whether they're used as...
Zombies are very popular these days. Which is surprising: you'd think their general hostile demeanour and lack of table manners would be off-putting. Vampires are big, too, but it's the shambling decaying corpses that Valve has ...
Left 4 Dead is a superb online horror shooter which puts the emphasis on tight teamwork and co-operation. There's a bit of a learning curve when playing the enemy zombies, but you'll soon get the hang of it and then it becomes every bit as addictive ...
Left 4 Dead, Valve's highly anticipated cooperative survival shooter, has finally arrived, but does it live up to the flesh-munching, sinew-snapping, shotgun-pumping hype? The short answer is a highly enthusiastic "yes". The long answer follows...
The team at Valve has delivered another amazing experience with its latest effort, the survival FPS Left 4 Dead. With an amazing range of variety, unprecedented team dynamics and a genuinely frightening atmosphere, L4D is the game horror enthusiasts ...
