Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PlayStation 3) review

By Kevin VanOrd

Metal Gear Solid 4 is an awe-inspiring synthesis of dramatic storytelling and entertaining gameplay.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the most technically stunning video game ever made. It's also a fine example of storytelling prowess within its medium, combining gameplay and narrative so slickly and beautifully that it's impossible to ...

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4)

By Brian Sutherland

To be completely honest with you, I had already pretty much decided to love Metal Gear Solid 4 when I tried to pre-order it about 8 months ago. I just didn't know why yet. Did I regret that decision? Keep reading to find out.

Metal Gear Solid was an easy install, quickly opening with great quality videos and then an initially slower training mission to help ease a player back into the world of Solid, Liquid and now, 4.5 years later, "Old Snake," complete with gray hair, ...

By Jason Saundalkar

Nearly a year after this reviewer purchased his Sony PlayStation3 console, it now finally had a reason to be switched on from day break right up to the early hours of the next morning and that's all thanks to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. ...

MGS offers ace gameplay that's both fun and engaging at the same time. You'll be playing this one into the early hours of the morning for certain. Top marks Konami.

Guns of the Patriots is more than we could have ever expected. It has a compelling storyline, fantastic gameplay coupled with Hollywood-scale presentation.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots

By Kurtis Kronk

Before MGS4 hit the shelves, a flurry of gameplay videos hit the web, and I couldn't help but watch a couple of them. These videos left me deeply worried about the game. Reservedly excited, yo...

Very nice graphics, Great level design, Many hours of fun - high replayability, Nudie mags, Lockers, Dead baddies, What else do you need?,

Excessive cutscenes makes it feel like a director's cut, Game doesn't encourage sneaking as much as it could, Writing could be better (and boss fights, as noted),

Lightning Review: Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset

By Jason Chen

The Gadget: The official Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset, which takes its design cues from stuff Snake actually wears in the game, like his Solid Eye and that body suit made for sneaking.

On a side note, it's not that great for cellphones, seeing as it gets very staticy if you move beyond a few feet away from your phone (we tested it with the iPhone). So there's no redeeming it there either

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - PS3

By Chris Pickering

Absolutely, positively, definitely, must-have?

An epic story, incredible opening Acts, Snake is cool as the proverbial cucumber

Some cutscenes can go on a little too long, a few bits of hokey dialogue

As a game on its own, it's stunning in its own right. Ignore the naysayers who claim the story is dull and tedious, they're just fools. Metal Gear Solid 4 is simply fantastic

Yes, this might negate the whole "game" premise of Metal Gear Solid, but with the absolute enjoyment of the story on offer, it's a minor flaw at worst. The hinted-towards epic battles shown off in the many trailers make for one of the best gaming...
