HP tries to offer the most basic users an inexpensive all-in-one with the Photosmart C4280 multifunction printer, but we find that for roughly the same price, you can get an all-in-one with more compelling features and better print quality.

The HP Photosmart C4280 multifunction printer is inexpensive; it has fast text-print speeds, inexpensive ink cartridges for users who rarely print, and built-in memory card slots.

Priced at just £59, the PhotoSmart C4280 is far and away the cheapest multifunction printer reviewed here. In fact, it's quite remarkable that the C4280 can combine printing and scanning features at such a low price, let alone produce decent quality photo...

Very low price, good performance and build quality, good print quality

Large photo prints suffer from some banding, small ink cartridges will prove costly when printing large volumes of photos

At this price, the C4280 is certainly something of a bargain. However, it's probably best suited for use as a general-purpose office printer rather than specifically as a photo-printer.
