LaCie Biggest F800 (1TB) Reviews

By Troy Dreier

Includes up to 2TB of storage; delivers fast transfer rates for video and audio editing; works with Windows and Macintosh systems; doesn't require drivers; includes cables for USB 2.0 and FireWire 800; easy access to drives for hot-swapping.

Noisy fan; no software bundle; no printed manual; relatively expensive.

LaCie's RAID-capable external hard drive array puts an enormous amount of storage within reach of even small company budgets, but the Buffalo TeraStation offers a more compelling package at an even lower price point.

That seems to be the idea behind the LaCie Biggest F800 line, which is ideal for small companies looking to back up crucial files or for audio and video professionals who need a large amount of space to manipulate large files. Still, the LaCie...

LaCie Ethernet Disk (80GB) Reviews

By Xiao Ming Wu

Easy to use; runs embedded Windows XP OS; interoperable with Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac operating systems; reasonably priced.

Lacks Gigabit Ethernet adapter; offers limited expandability options; does not support RAID; comes with weak support package.

The Ethernet Disk is a suitable means of adding storage to a small-business network, but it lacks the power and the expansion options of a full-fledged server.

LaCie hosts a few useful technical resources for the Ethernet Disk on its Web site, including a downloadable product manual, a white paper on the technologies that make up the Ethernet Disk, a product data sheet, and a series of free...

LaCie Ethernet Big Disk Test Report

This NAS is best for straight-up file-sharing over a network; it lacks the broader features of other drives.

LaCie 2big Triple (2TB)

By Jason Tomczak

Award: Editor's Choice!

We at DigitalTrends give the 2big Triple a huge thumbs up..

Four user-selectable RAID options; supports USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and FireWire 800

Rotating RAID dial is a little cumbersome; expensive

The drives are hot-swappable on the LaCie 2big Triple RAID Transfer Speeds We tested the LaCie 2big Triple RAID drive several times to see how quickly we could back up and retrieve some files. The back of the LaCie 2big Triple RAID Operating...

LaCie Ethernet Big Disk

By David Murphy

If you can find it on your network, you'll... well. Once you get that far with LaCie's Ethernet Big Disk, let us know!

If you drag files to the folders, they copy over, giving you a speedy network backup solution.

Where to begin? You'll spend as much time transferring files as you will trying to get the Ethernet Big Disk to work.

Other potential monikers: the LaCie Ethernet Big Headache, the LaCie Ethernet Sucks at Networking, or perhaps even the LaCie Ethernet Where Did My Drive Go. The 2TB LaCie Ethernet Big Disk is appropriately named, we suppose. We jest, but there¡¯s...

LaCie Ethernet Disk

By Matthew D. Sarrel

Rack mountable; supports additional drives via FireWire.

Large footprint; supports additional drives via USB 1.1; not a print server; 25-user limit; no logging or reporting features.

This large-footprint NAS device supports file sharing for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS as well as via HTTP and FTP.

The LaCie Ethernet Disk is an equal-opportunity device; it supports file sharing for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS clients alike, and also supports file transfer via HTTP and FTP.

LaCie Ethernet Disk

By Becky Waring

This expandable rack-size network drive performed well in our tests.

This large-capacity, easy-to-use drive is expandable and fairly fast. We had only small quibbles with it.

LaCie's Ethernet Disk is a heavy, rack-mounted NAS device designed for small to medium-size offices. The Ethernet Disk is expandable, with one FireWire and two USB 1.1 ports. For example, the manual referenced a print server that is no longer a...
