Media Extender device and upscaling DVD player
Wireless-N connectivity; easy to install; works as promised
Lacks support for all audio/video formats
The MCE DMA2200 is probably the best media streaming device we've ever tested. It's a shame you can only use it with Windows Vista, but for those who want to send media from their PC to their TV, it's the ideal solution
You can set up a password to connect to the drive, although you get no user m...
Is streaming at 1080p with Linksys' new Media Center Extender worth a deal with the Vista devil?
Dual-band 1080p streaming with built-in DVD player; wide format support.
Vista-only; not much reason to pick one of these over an Xbox 360.
Aside from delivering the familiar Windows Media Center user interface, the p...
Well-built media center extender has draft-n Wi-Fi, but its interface can be lethargic and its remote is awful.
Well-built box, Very good video streaming quality
Abominable remote control, Flaky association with host PC
If some company were to make an extender that's capable of a reliable, don't-have-to-think-about-it connection, came with a high-quality remote control, and had an interface I could navigate as quickly and smoothly as I can, say, a cable-TV box's interfac...
Unfortunately, after trying a second-generation extender, the Linksys Media C...
I have only tested with 100mbit plugged in (not wireless) - but I am very happy with this unit ...in fact, I plan to order one more :-)
- silent
- takes a long time to initially start (like, 1 minute)
I love bringing my wive's entertainment computer from her education/sewing/guest room into the our bedroom. Music, TV recordings, picture slide shows. It's nice so far. I still have a lot to learn about it's capabilities.
If you have a weak wireless router, watching TV recordings it freezes and jumps. Either hard wire it or get a strong wireless router. I will be getting a stronger wireless router.
Configuration is easier than v1 extenders. Software upgrade fixes any menu issues and it works just as fast as an XBox 360 extender.
Works alot better than the v1 extenders. Built in DVD player eliminates another device on my shelf. Nice and quiet, no fans to make noise. Can down-convert HD content to component video(480p).
Remote is too small and the layout is horrable. Instead of putting the controls in the middle or top of the remote, they are at the bottom. So you have to hold on a very little bit and try to control it.
