Misfit Shine

The Misfit Shine is an activity tracker that's big on style and great for those who swim for exercise. It doesn't quite offer enough to shine above the advanced competition, however.

Best looking activity tracker we've tested. Includes clip and wristband mounts. Functions as a watch. Fully waterproof for swimmers

Limited data analysis. No integration with other services. No Web app. No syncing between iOS and Android apps. Dashboard lacks weight-tracking and calorie-counting

In the quest for the quantified self, there's no shortage of gadgets and gizmos that help you keep tabs on your every waking, and even sleeping, moment. So what makes the Misfit Shine ($119.95 direct) different? For one, the company isn't kidding when...

Misfit Shine takes alien-future approach to fitness tracking

So sleek some people might not even know what it is: the Shine is almost like fitness-tracking jewelry.

The ; fitness tracker has a sharp design, is compatible with a variety of wearable accessories, and lasts four months on a single battery; it's also waterproof and can be used for swimming.

Minimal design doesn't display detailed data on the device; currently only works with iOS; needs to be held close to phone screen to sync; currently has a closed app ecosystem.

The Shine is one of the most stylish and futuristic-looking wireless fitness trackers out there, but you're trading in extra versatility for minimalist style.

Misfit Shine activity tracker review

Misfit Shine: A minimalist, fashion-conscious fitness tracker for iOS

Fitness trackers are a dime a dozen these days.

The nice part is it’s fashion-conscious, and doesn’t trumpet the fact that it’s a dumb ol’ fitness tracker for all the world to see. In fact, I believe that’s a selling point for the manufacturer, the classy, androgynous style of the device that you...

Misfit Shine

A fitness tracker that's attractive and fully waterproof. What more could you ask for?

Fully waterproof ; Can be worn anywhere on your person ; Attractive design ; Long battery life ; Watch functionality

No altimeter ; Sometimes inaccurate ; App currently iOS only ; Sleep monitoring a little poor

If you’re looking for a fully-functional and completely waterproof fitness tracker, the Misfit Shine is a great choice, especially for the fashion conscious. The lengthy battery life just sweetens the deal.

Misfit Shine review

The best-looking, least intrusive wearable device yet − but what's it for?

Four month battery life ; Elegant design ; Clasp and wristband included ; Waterproof

Easy to forget ; Confusing watch-face ; Slow sync ; Poor activity logging

Misfit Shine personal physical activity monitor review

Wearable tech is all the rage at the moment, whether its Google Glass at the top of the tree or the Nike FuelBand at the more accessible end. You'll know whether or not a band on your wrist that glows is good enough to motivate you and Shine doesn't...

Battery lasts for four months, waterproof, can be worn on wrist or hidden, app is simple but effective

Using as a watch takes an age to see the time, slow to respond, fairly feminine design might not suit all, only works with iPhone

You'll know whether or not a band on your wrist that glows is good enough to motivate you and Shine doesn't promise or offer anything new here compared to the competition. If anything it somewhat lacks the "in your face" appeal of the Nike FuelBand...
