Runtastic Orbit

Fitness app and device maker Runtastic gets into the activity-tracker game with the Orbit, a capable, versatile OLED-display-equipped band that's highly reminiscent of the now-recalled Fitbit Force.

Measures steps, distance, calories burned, and sleep. Excellent display. Waterproof. Includes two wristbands and one clip case. Apps available on Android and iOS

No food-logging or calorie-counting component (though integration with MyFitnessPal is planned for a future update). No stair tracking. App doesn't track weight. Heart-rate monitoring isn't supported. Requires a smartphone

Runtastic Orbit review

Nice app, shame about the watch?

Runtastic app is really rather good, though you don't need this to use it ; Ingenious multiple straps ; Battery life is excellent

Screen is not fit for purpose ; Useful data shown is minimal ; Build quality is on the budget side

It's a passable fitness tracker, but for running the Runtastic Orbit is too lightweight in terms of the data it shows, and the screen really isn't usable in action. Even at around £80/$110 it's not exactly a bargain
