Excellent cooling, extremely quiet, sleek design Sharp CVP12LX Portable Air Conditioner

After reading reviews here and other online sites, I chose this Sharp portable AC over Soleus or Delonghi. I brought it home the first day of a 100 degree heat wave (in CA) and got it set up in 15 minutes. It is heavy so I required help to get it into...

still using this 8 years later

still cooling my basement level after 8 years

oscillating vents ; smart looking design with higher quality components then compared to typical portables ; decent cooling for a portable ; long high quality hose ; MAX cooling feature is nice

as some other users noted, early on had issue with some bushings internal within unit. was causing audible resonance due to the vibrations. fixed it myself

4 years later!

I would like to see more functionality on the front panel, I lost my remote for 6 months and the AC only worked in HIGH or OFF via the front switch. HEPA Filter and UV air purification would be nice. Easily serviceable parts would be a definite plus...

For the past four years this sucker has been very reliable and provides a steady stream of cool air for a south facing bedroom. My 12x20ft bedroom with 2 large 5x4ft windows can make this unit work hard on "High" but when I use the Max function, it can...

It's started to make some noises, not from the motor, but from the mounts. This unit was banged up a little bit from delivery and one of the wheels broke, like everyone else said, they weren't kidding when they said there wasn't enough foam packaging...

Generally Please With Performance

Inspect the unit carefully before accepting it from UPS. Open the packaging and make sure there is no damage to the unit. Although the outside cardboard was dented, the unit was undamaged.

Aesthetically pleasing design. Reasonably quiet. Effective cooling. I purchased a second one for a large room

One unit develped a resonant enclosure rattle at times, that could sometimes be quieted by jamming a piece of folded paper between two enclosure seams. Although rated at 12000 BTUs, the cooling was just a little more effective (but quieter) than an...

Same comments as other reviewers

First unit shipped out was returned to Newegg due to a missing delivery label. The second unit shipped came in a box that looked like it had been through a war. As the previous reviewer mentioned, there was no box or additional padding surrounding the...

Quiet and effectively cools down my bedroom. The mega cool function is nice (albeit noisy). Seems to be well-made. Good looking unit compared to others I have seen out there. Plasmacluster function does a nice job of purifying the air. I have been...

Installing this on casement windows is a pain (an inherent problem with portable air conditioners, not this Sharp). Instruction manual was confusing for installation process as drawings were not completely accurate. This thing is huge and heavy. Mega...

Watch for shipping damage

After all my research this is one of the nicest air conditioner units out there, both in features and style

As soon as I opened the package I found one of the wheels broke off during shipping. The box was intact but looked pretty abused. Newegg ships this air conditioner in the original Sharp retail box with no additional protection around it, other than the...

Dead on Arrival

Good looking unit. seemed to cool quickly in the 10 seconds that it ran

Died 10 seconds after I turned it on. Newegg is absolutely no help. Sharp warranty service stinks

Great product

As others have stated, know that a portable is not the same as a window AC, but that's why I upped the BTU's and spent the money .. good unit I'd recommend it.

This thing is a beast, it gets the job done .. I've not gotten a reading on true amps and all that, but half these reviews don't even make it out of the box, so to speak, so just wanted to say, it's plugged in and spewing fresh cold angel air ......

again, this AC isn't a mickey mouse unit, it weights over 100lbs and is at least 3 feet high

QUIET but with issues

We have had this unit (or an equivalent model) for about 4 years now. Originally, I was completely thrilled with it. Over the years, it has become less and less efficient as lint and mold build-up on the condenser coil is difficult to remove leading to...

Portable ; VERY quiet for a portable. You can have a conversation at normal volume next to it ; Flexible controls (don't lose the remote) ; Easy to clean the filters ; Supports a drain hose for condensation drain outside ; Trickles condensation water...

It's a one hose unit. This means it will bring (potentially hot) air in from cracks, crevices, and adjacent rooms. Much less efficient than dual-hose portables and window units ; The filters leak dust and lint onto the coils, mandating periodic...
