Free turn by turn directions ; Very accurate and built on Google Maps with StreetView ; Get destination by voice and search business listings along route

Tends to take the longer route or take you to do wrong destination altogether ; Not available worldwide… yet!  :-P

Free GPS app

 

It's still in beta form, but Google's free GPS app is already so good it could take over the entire GPS app market, reviews say -- if it becomes widely available. For now, Google Maps Navigation is only available on certain Android phones,...

Allows spoken searches, speaks street names, live traffic information

Limited to Android phones so far, not always accurate, robotic voice is hard to understand, clumsy text search, satellite and street views aren't helpful

Google's free sat-nav app for Android gives premium sat-nav software something to think about.

Google Maps Navigation is far from perfect, and you’re unlikely to want to rely on it if you’re a regular traveller. The necessity of a mobile data connection makes it much more limited than software that comes with maps and route calculation abilities...
