There's not much to these speakers. They're self powered (ie can amplify) and has a 3.5mm cable that plugs into your iPhone/iPod/iPad (have used with all three -- works just fine) or whatever mp3 player you might have.

I plug in my Ipod and play the audio books I have downloaded from my local library. It works great.

I was worried about purchasing this based on some negative reviews, but I have been very happy with this product. For the price, you can't beat it! It works perfectly, is quite loud and clear, and protects my ipod from sand, water, heat, etc.
