Naim UnitiQute 2 review

Stuff that costs over a grand is always a hard sell in hi-fi. There are some good reasons for that, and some bad ones. Simply put though, the quality of standard equipment has fallen so far that you can now get some really nice sounding audio gear for...

Fantastic design, brilliant but simple display, built to last, sounds beautiful

Still expensive, could do with a couple more analogue inputs

There's no point in us mentioning the UnitiQute 2's price again, because if you're serious about audio it won't matter that this is an expensive bit of kit. But, bear in mind it's cheaper than a lot of other Naim hardware, and we think it's every bit...

Best music system £800-£1500, Awards 2015. An authentic hi-fi streamer, and a pretty compelling way to spend £1150 – and now updated for 2015.

Build quality ; Specification ; Flexibility ; Punchy, grippy, dynamic sound

Intolerant of low-quality, High-compression music

Proper hi-fi meets Wi-Fi in an all-in-one of small stature and big ability

Sounds way bigger and more expensive than it is ; Brilliant hub for all your digital sources ; Smooth-scrolling, responsive control app

Utilitarian looks ; Spotify or similar would be nice ; Control app is iOS-only

High-resolution music doesn’t get any more convenient

Naim Audio UnitiQute 2

A high-end network stereo to die for

Outstanding build quality ; Refined sound ; Extensive feature list

Expensive ; No Bluetooth

The only thing missing from the spec sheet is Bluetooth, but with so many other ways of playing music we’re not sure you’ll need it – and it doesn’t really fit with Naim’s audiophile ethos either.
