HARDWARE REVIEW Panasonic SCBTT775

Panasonic's slimline 3D Blu-ray system majors on picture and sound quality – but can't meet the multimedia needs of Adrian Justins

Articulate sound; easy to use; excellent image quality; fast disc loading

Struggles at high volume; multimedia inconsistencies; plasticky design

Overall, the SC-BTT775 is a decent starter system for the fledgling home cinema fan. It does well visually and is no slouch sonically – but the build quality and vintage online portal disappoint

Good sound quality at moderate volume levels, 3D Blu-ray playback

Complicated setup procedure, poor bass response at high volume levels, wireless connectivity is optional

The Panasonic SC-BTT775 is a convenient solution that bundles a 3D Blu-ray player with a 5.1-channel home theatre system. It's got wireless rear speakers, and despite an awkward setup procedure it is a good choice for anyone after a relatively cheap...

Panasonic SC-BTT775 Review

Superb sound and picture, but its online services are old-school

Panasonic SC-BTT775 vs Panasonic SC-BTT755It looks strikingly similar to last year’s impressive BTT755, but the main electronics within the 2011 Panasonic have been comprehensively revised. For a sta

Panasonic SC-BTT775

Panasonic's range-topping Blu-ray system combines a typically generous spec sheet with enjoyable, if not mind-blowing sound quality

Superb picture quality ; Extensive features ; Easy to use operating system

Speaker build quality ; Sound needs more oomph ; Viera Cast content ; Expensive Skype camera

The SC-BTT775 is far from a perfect home cinema system – the build quality of the towers is disappointing and the audio performance could do with a bit more oomph to compete with ‘proper’ speaker systems from the likes of Teufel or Tannoy. But it’s...

Panasonic SC-BTT775 review

Watching films in 3D might be the next big thing for home cinema, but without a decent surround sound setup the effect won't be nearly as immersive. Panasonic's SC-BTT775 solves both of these problems by combining a svelte 3D-compatible Blu-ray player...

Slightly below average speaker build quality, but impressive audio and an excellent Blu-ray player make this a superb all-in-one setup.

Panasonic SC-BTT775 Blu-ray 5.1 home theatre

Review A Blu-ray-in-a-box surround sound system is always going to be a bit of a compromise – you shouldn't expect the ultimate in audio quality, but you do get the convenience of having the whole kit and caboodle configuration. In the case of...

Panasonic’s premium Blu-ray-in-a-box package ticks boxes for convenience and for sound quality, but its upscaling abilities aren’t the best and the cheap-looking speakers won't appeal to everyone. But so long as your focus is on movies rather than...
