Philips Streamium NP2500

Digital audio streamers generally come two ways: cheap solutions like the Airport Express that lack convenience, or expensive systems like Sonos that put all your music at your fingertips. Philips has always tried to find a middle ground; last year's...

Digital audio streamer; unique color screen that displays album art; full Rhapsody integration; provides access to thousands of Internet radio stations; stylish exterior design; easy setup to stream music from connected PCs; less expensive than...

Small screen difficult to see across room; interface can get sluggish with large music libraries; slight delay between tracks; no support for Pandora, Last.fm, or Slacker; included remote occasionally confusing

The Philips NP2500 offers many of the features available on more-expensive digital audio streamers for less money and has an attractive color display, but it's hard to see from a distance and playback has some occasional hiccups.

Philips Streamium NP2500

Rolling a dial through a handful of FM stations seems like an ancient exercise, compared to the nearly limitless variety of free music available through Internet radio and other Internet music stops. Perhaps that's why Internet radios have become an...

Full-color LCD; classy design; relatively cheap

Small ; hard-to-read screen; pushing music from PC causes crashes; unintuitive software; slow text entry; no Pandora ; Slacker ; Last.fm support

The NP2500 stands out as a value in its segment, but the low price shines through in the details...

Make your Hi-Fi connected

Set-up : As the NP1100, set-up is more than easy and it takes around 2min from scratch to start playing your favourite internet radio station. At the opposite of the Logitech devices like the Boom or the Duet, you don't need any computer to set-up your...

Incredible sound ; Great experience thanks to the several lines color display ; Album arts available for Rhapsody and UPnP as well as internet radios logos ; Can play Itunes tracks tks to Twonky SW bypacked ; Strong WiFi streaming performance

NP1100's useful quick jump function not available ; LastFM, Pandora and Napster not available

Great addition to my Home Theatre

Product looks great with a nice color screen, easy to setup and control. Really enhances the use of my existing Home Theatre

I love the internet radio and the fact that I can playback my iTunes music collection ; The color screen is of good size and shows the album art as well. They have build a feature in called "full sound" and you can really hear the difference ;

The Rhapsody trial made me very interested and I am considering if I should take a subscription. Would be nice if the price was lower for that and if you can keep some tracks after the subscription expires

Abysmal pretty much sums it up

It looks good -- once you keep it switched off

The software is extremely poor, the interface is just flat-out awful -- and I'm required to pay extra for it
