Sony Giga Juke NAS-SC55PKE Multi-Room Wireless Audio System

Is Sony's all-in-one multi-room wireless audio system the one to top them all? Andy finds out.

In this package the Music Server is joined by the Giga Juke Wireless Player NAS-C5E. Like the Music Server it can be purchased separately, this time for around the £200 mark, to add extra rooms to your setup. You also get a remote control with...

Sony NAS-50HDE Gigajuke review

Can connect tunes from your PC via your network, or from its own 80GB built-in hard disk - a good micro system choice for fans of digital music

80GB hard disk ; plays files from your PC via a network ; a good micro, too

Price ; slightly lazy bass

Hard disk and network-readiness will appeal to many, though the price is high

Sony NAS-50HDE review

Sony's prouder than a new dad of its new ‘GigaJuke' hi-fi and rightly so: it's a stellar little network hi-fi

Does almost everything, and does most of it well – but the GigaJuke just isn’t quite as musical as it ought to be

Sony CMT-U1BT review

The bluest of all the wireless data-transfer media, Bluetooth, lets this Sony hi-fi stream music from your phone. But does it sound any good?

A solid micro hi-fi with a juicy tech cherry in the form of Bluetooth. Rivals from Onkyo and Yamaha, though, offer better sound-per-pound value

Sony Giga Juke NAS-SC500PK Review

The Sony Giga Juke NAS-SC500PK has multitasking at its heart. As well as wirelessly firing songs around your house, it's a whole hi-fi in a box. The central Music Server is a multi–facted music master, acting as a dock for your MP3 player, doling out...

Easy set-up, great sound, speakers included

The 1980s remote controls and seemingly random restrictions

If you don't already have any hi-fi kit, this could be cheaper and easier than a Sonos

Skipping CDs

I was excited for the arrival of my CMT-FX300i and couldn't wait to replace my old stereo system. Once plugged in I placed a brand NEW CD in it. Half way through the first song the CD had skipped 3 times. I thought maybe it was the CD so I cleaned it...

looks cool, good size, ipod dock, clock, remote control

Skipped my CDs

Product Specifications

Listen as your favorite music is streamed wirelessly and pumped through the thumping speakers of the Bluetooth® micro system. As the first micro system to feature Bluetooth technology, the Sony CMT-U1BT wirelessly receives music from the other Bluetooth-enabled devices in your home to offer no-fuss access to your catalog of favorite artists and music. Up until now, music lovers wishing to share tracks from an MP3 player, mobile phone or personal computer had to trouble themselves sharing headphones, compromise sound quality with small speakers or use a messy cable to link with a stereo system. The inclusion of wireless connectivity is thanks to the latest version of Bluetooth known as ?A2DP? (Which stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). Put simply, it allows Bluetooth to wirelessly stream music in high quality stereo rather than just transmitting hands free voice or data files. It means that music from your other devices can be played on the HiFi seamlessly on demand whenever and you are at home. As a tabletop stereo system the CMTU1BT stacks up as a hi-fi in it's own right, delivering 2 x 25 watts of RMS output from Sony's outstanding all-digital S-Master amplifier. The speakers use a combination of aluminium woofer cones and horn ducts to generate a rich, satisfying bass and the soft silk dome tweeters ensure pure sound in the higher notes. It's equipped with a vertical slot loading CD mechanism which will also playback MP3 or Atrac files from CDR/RW discs. There's an AM/FM radio and a full remote control.
