TEAC DR-H300DAB review

This TEAC box supports CDs, DVDs and DAB – but do they all make happy bedfellows?

Superb sound quality and decent DVD playback, all in a handsomely retro and affordable box. Tasty

TEAC DR-H300DAB review

Unlike most micro systems we encounter, this TEAC is DVD-ready, but even with video piped via its HDMI it lacks something in picture quality terms

Involving, weighty and detailed sound with CDs and radio ; comprehensive specification

Picture is a little on the bland side

Very decent for sound and vision, without being spectacular at either

Beautiful sound, looks fab, easy to use and very compact, This is a amazing piece of gear, it has blown my mind and my friends too. Everything else on the market seems pail in comparison. I am using the soft tweeter Teac Reference 250 LS-H250 speakers...

Small dislikes, to be objective. CD loading seems slower than I am used to and the volume steps on the remote are too large making the music too loud or too quiet sometimes. Very deep unit could maybe do with a 90° IEC mains plug. But hey, I forgive...

Ease of use, connectivity and great quality of sound for music and picture (with DVDs).

Phono lead not supplied although indicated in brochure. Inital set up and remote a bit fiddly but no serious problems at all.

Covers everything that I wanted although looks are a bit functional (not necessarily a bad thing). Appears to be excellent value for the functionality and performance.

Nothing significant identified.

Teac DRH300DAB

Decent enough "all in one box" solution to DVD / CD playing. The "loudness" function for low volume CD playing (which I'd never use on a seperates hi-fi) works particularly well. Construction seems solid enough.

DVD / CD tray is as flimsy as other reviews suggest. Speaker terminals are a bit naff - they don't accomodate thicker speaker cable and you so it is difficult to bi-wire from them.
