Vizio S4251W-B4 Review

Until recently, sound bars have remained a frustrating audio category dominated by extremes. On one end of the spectrum, you had your inexpensive sound bars which barely performed well enough to best most built-in TV speakers. On the other, you had...

Remarkable sound quality for the money ; LCD display on remote ; Comprehensive channel controls ; Wireless subwoofer and surround signal delivery ; Multiple inputs

Short surround speaker wires ; Sub doesn’t get incredibly deep ; Volume control moves in large increments

Vizio’s S4251W-B4 delivers the sort of features and control that users have been longed after for years now, and does it with style, finesse and surprisingly good audio quality.

Vizio S4251w-B4

Nearly every sound bar claims it can create faux surround sound without extra speakers, and with a few exceptions, those claims are always overhyped.

The Vizio S4251w-B4 sound bar includes two rear speakers, allowing it to deliver a real surround-sound experience from a sound bar system. Its smart design lets you to connect the rear speakers to the wireless subwoofer in the back of the room, which...

The sound bar may block your TV's remote sensor when used in tabletop position. Also, if you use your TV to switch inputs, you likely won't get the best possible surround experience, although most listeners won't notice. And there's no guided speaker...

Vizio's S4251w-B4 sports rear speakers for unparalleled home theater sonics from a sound bar, although it has some quirks.

Sound quality is something you’re not going to want to skip when you’re aiming for a full home theater experience. VIZIO delivers a powerful solution in the S4251w 5.1 Sound Bar system, one that’s not to be overlooked.

"This is the best home theater soundbar for the money!"

FIRST NOTE: DO THE FIRMWARE UPDATE! CHECK VIZIO WEBSITE

The sound quality is great! The system is also a cinch to setup AND use. Translation, wife friendly lol

Replace the included optical cable that comes with the unit. You will get even better sound.

"Great sound with an amazing price. Can't ask for more!"

I had gone into Best Buy to check out some sound bars to replace my cheezy cheap surround system.

Remote has LCD screen.

Remote LCD screen does not light up.

"I am very happy with what I have."

I have never owned a soundbar before and wasn't quite sure where to start. Having a technology background I do know that it can be beneficial to stay with the same brand for multiple pieces of equipment. I have a Vizio 55" 3D T.V., so I decided to...

Without prior experience with soundbars, to me it has great sound (don't know what some people are complaining about in the reviews??). My size of TV it doesn't block IR receiver. Pairs nicely with Vizio TV's.

For some, the lag when first turning TV on. For me, the sound increases too much at lower levels. It is hard to find that happy medium when turning the volume up. At level 2 for some shows the center is too low, but at level 2.5 or 3 it is too loud.

"Outstanding Product!"

CNET reviews have said that the major problems with this product are "blocking the IR receiver in the TV" and the fact that you have to "point the remote at the TV directly" to get it to operate.

Easy setup. Great sound. The remote is the best I have ever used. The best feature is the wireless sub and the fact that the two rear surround speakers connect to it rather than to the front unit.

None that come to mind after three days use.

"Better than expected"

I wanted a simple solution ams this thing is it. I have it on the audio out of my 55 vizio TV and the output set to Dolby out. The bar uses trusurround and makes what seems to be a very very good faux 5.1 sound. I watched predator and revenge of the...

Excellent for the price. (I got it at Costco for under 250). - creates solutions for a TV room like mine where running wires to the back of the room would have been a big undertaking. It's loud for the wattage. Easy to install.

Remote could be easier to see, wish the instructions were more clear on its capabilities

"Convenient wireless surround system at a good price"

I just got this system set up to a Vizio M3D550KDE TV. A couple observations:

Best of both worlds with sound bar/surround system

Had trouble connecting digital coaxial cable to my TV
