A Yamaha Multi-Function Device : Ymaha MCR-040

Allowing you to play music from a variety of sources is a new product from Yamaha combining a distinctive appearance and ease of use.

While I was happy with the audio output from most of the supported sources, there was one exception. Attaching an external device, in my case several MP3 players, via an audio lead connecting to the Portable socket resulted in a decrease in the volume...

Excellent A/V Receiver

I purchased this receiver after my 10+ yr old Pioneer bit the dust. I've always purchased Pioneer equipment, but after days of research of competing brands, I chose the Yamaha and can not be happier. This unit has it all, and I must say that the DLNA,...

None that I can see - perfect set of features for the price/value point

I purchased my whole set up from newegg. Front: Polk Audio New Monitor 75T Four-Way Ported Floorstanding Loudspeaker Pair Center: Polk Audio New Monitor 25C Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker Sub: Klipsch Synergy Sub-10 420W 10" Subwoofer Black Back:...

Works right out of the box. Just hook everything up and set up the mic and hit start. You have to play with the sets a bit to get it just the way you like it.(See cons:) ; Networking, airplay, app, sound, video are all amazing ; Overall I'm completely...

The only thing I didn't like is the lack of control for the bass. The mic works great for setting up. But, I had to turn the bass down a bit. You have to buy a good center channel or the bass and surround drowns everything else out. Just keep that in...

RX-V673BL Refurbished

Don't try and perform firmware update via the network! I have a very fast, stable network connection and it failed anyhow resulting in ROM error. Go to Yamaha site and download the firmware update, extracting it to a USB key. Bought for great Yamaha...

Easy to set up and operate. OSD is awesome! AirPlay works great. YPOA makes speaker configuration/adjustment simple. Remote is intuitive and almost every function can be access via OSD or remote easily. ARC works perfectly with HDMI on Panasonic...

Some of the lettering on remote buttons is hard to read. Firmware update via network can/will result in "ROM error" and USB update must be performed before unit can then be operated

Got this for a good price. Much cheaper than the Sony I replaced. I wanted an option for Pandora but those receivers were all much more expensive. However this one does have Internet radio with a good selection of stations so I don't miss Pandora after...

Setup went easily enough. Things worked when plugged in the way I expected ; I like the remote. Buttons are laid out nicely, very intuitive. Much better than the Sony remote I replaced with lots of confusing acronyms on the buttons ; It has lots of...

I was hoping this device would take composite and component video signals and route them out the HDMI. It does not seem to do that. So I need 3 sets of cables to my projector: HDMI, Component, and Composite ; Tried to use this with an HDMI to DVI...

Nice Receiver

Good Sound Quality. YPAO seems to help sound quality on martin Logan Motion setup. Not sure if its quite as good as my old Yamaha HTR-6180. Air play is awesome

Don't update firmware via network, this can kill the receiver. Only do this via usb drive

Awesome receiver

This is my 3rd receiver and by far the best one yet. This was a replacement to a high end Onkyo receiver that went dead after 2 years of ownership due to the Onkyo infamous overheated board (hint: don't buy Onkyo). I am now somewhat glad it died...

Well, not that it's a deal breaker, but if the remote was more user friendly with slightly larger buttons,. it's would've been nice. No big deal though

I love it but......

I've had Yamaha amps and receivers for thirty + years. I've never replace one because it was broken. I only replaced them to upgrade to newer technologies. In this case, HDMI primarily but also to make use of new smart device app and web connectivity....

HDMI ; Smart device/web app/connectivity/Network Functions

There are two cons ; 1) Zone2, when using the RCA jacks to an external power amp, you cannot adjust the volume via the V673 unit, the web page, or the droid/iphone app. The volume level is fixed (at a fairly high level) ; My external Yamaha power amp...
