I think this battery works great last a long time compared to other's that i have used.

Nikon EN-EL4a battery
It's a lightweight easy to use battery that charges quickly. It would be nice if it had a larger capacity but for my work it's been sufficient. I bought this for my new Nikon D3 as an extra battery since it uses the same battery as my D2X.

I'm curious to see how it lasts in the cold. It's working very well so far. Happy with the purchase. Bought it as a backup for my D3, but these batteries last so long, I may never need a backup.

EN-EL4a is a compact Lithium-ion power supply for Nikon D2 series D-SLR cameras. Up to 3800 images can be shot on one charge. The EN-EL4a is free from 'memory effect', so it can be recharged at any time or any level. A microchip built into the battery measures discharge capacity and compares it to the full (maximum) capacity recorded when the battery was last calibrated.
