Panasonic DMR-BS850 Blu-ray player

This is the first Blu-ray recorder to be released in the UK but it does a lot more than that

Amazingly versatile; Superb BD record quality; Twin Freesat tuners; Viera Cast internet access

Requires broadcasters to play ball; AVCHD dubs to DVD in SD

The 500GB drive can store approximately 77 hours of HD, or 215 hours of SD. If your hard drive starts to clog up with DR sat recordings, you can compress them on the drive itself. This is a real-time process. So if you have six hours of Nature's Great...

BluRay twin Freesat tuner

BluRay twin Freesat tuner

I cannot receive freeview and no-one makes a 22inch freesat TV so this was the best option at the price. Only one issue - the tuner doesn't boot up my 22 in. Panasonic freeview TV as well as it does the 37 in. freesat model. Operation otherwise...

Up to Panasonics usual good standard, great reproduction. However when editing recorded programmes their is now a substantial delay on playback where the edit was performed. This delay was not evident on my previous Panasonic.

Pricey but great functionality

Pricey but great functionality

Not the cheapest unit on the market but it does so much so worth the money. Good points - Freesat navigation, functionality and choice of channels including free HD; prompt to tape HD versions (where they exist) when setting up to record a non-HD...

A Missed Opportunity

A Missed Opportunity

I have a few DVD HDD recorders Pioneer 5100, Sony 710 Sony 770 Toshiba XS30 XV48 etc and so any new recorder had to be a major technology step forward. The Panasonic 750 (same as 850 but 250GB HDD instead of 500GB) seemed ideal to go with my LG 1080p...

Very expensive but it works

Very expensive but it does work. I haven't noticed any image improvement over the 4 year old predecessor but that be the performance of the Panasonic TX-L37V10 connected to it. Stopping serial recording is still a mystery but I am sure that it can be...

Excellent Blu-Ray Recorder

This is a powerful piece of kit. It is easy to setup, gives very good quality pictures and can record two channels whilst watching a Blu-Ray/DVD. The timing options on the programme guide are comprehensive, intuitive and easy to use. The more...

Panasonic Freesat Blu-ray HD recorder

Excellent but missed many 'guide link' recordings. Replaced by Amazon without question. New item same fault. Being investigated by Panasonic.
