Panasonic DMP-BD10 review: Panasonic DMP-BD10

Excellent picture quality on Blu-ray and DVD; DVD upconversion to 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p; HDMI output; DVD-Audio support; sleek design.

Very expensive; terrible remote; annoying front flip-down panel on unit; relatively slow load times; no HDMI 1.3.

The Panasonic DMP-BD10 is a very competent first-generation Blu-ray player, but its high price and the comparably affordable PlayStation 3 make it hard to recommend.

Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray player reviewed

The Panasonic DMP-BD10 is the second standalone Blu-ray player to become available, not quite making its expected September launch but sneaking onto store shelves near you this month. Was it worth the wait and/or the $1,300 price tag? Compared to the...

Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-Ray Player

After the Samsung BD-P1000 came out in July, it seemed like an eternity before anyone brought another Blu-ray player to market. Actually, it was about six months before the Panasonic DMP-BD10 appeared, which is close to an eternity in the fast-paced...

Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray Disc Player

It's also possible that the earliest Blu-ray Discs share some of the responsibility for the soft Blu-ray launch as well. MPEG-2 coding was used for the first releases, which were limited to single-layer 25GB discs. The full 50GB promise of Blu-ray,...

Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray Disc Player: First Look

We obviously haven't seen it yet, but Panasonic's first entry in the Blu-ray arena is somewhat remarkable in at least one respect- unlike the Pioneer and Sony players it will playback CDs! In addition to playing back HD from Blu-ray Disc, the Panasonic...

Panasonic's updated Blu-ray player still costs a packet

Excellent picture and sound ; Good menu screen

Slow to load discs ; Expensive

Stunning images and improved audio can't quite persuade us to part with so much money to join the HD revolution

Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray player

Panasonic flies the Blu-ray flag with impressive results. You're gonna need deep pockets though!

Panasonic also provides an RGB-capable Scart output plus component, S-video and composite outputs. On the audio front, there are 7.1-channel analogue audio outputs, which reveals that the DMP-BD10 is fitted with a Dolby Digital Plus decoder (alongside...

Panasonic DMP-BD10A review

We liked Panasonic's original Blu-Ray player, the DMP-BD10, but found it hard to love. While it showed hints of the format's remarkable visual and aural talents, its DVD playback was disappointing and the wallet-pounding £1200 price tag was way too...
