Panasonic DMP-BDT500

Current Theater:

Sleek, modern styling; Sturdy Construction; Built-in Wi-Fi; Analog/Digital connections; Fast load time

Touchpad can be annoying after a while; Wi-Fi connection slower than my 40GB PS3

I have had 6 panasonic players. All of which have functioned very well. The design and output of this unit is exceptional. I have not had as much time to play with this unit as much as I would like but each time adds more joy and ease of use. The use...

Ease of use. The remote has a touchpad which is very sensitive and unique. The 3-d is exceptional along with all others as expected. Has both wifi and ethernet. Very compatible with my Mitsu 82" DLP

Compared to other Panasonic players it takes a little amount of time to get used to the functioning of the player. A minor drawback

After reading many reviews I decided to go with this player. I went with the DMP-BDT320 initially, but decided to spend the extra cash and get the 500. Well worth it. Very well built, all the options and settings will blow your mind if you you are used...

Sturdy construction, Dual HDMI out, 3D, WiFi built in, web apps, quad Burr Brown precessors, High quality internals, great customizability on video and especially sound, Great remote. Super fast loading times

Looks nice on its own, but mirror finish and brushed metal clashes with classic black components. Rear USB only for skype camera, not media sources

Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blu-ray player review

The DMP-BDT500 is a Blu-ray player designed for music lovers. While it doesn't skimp on visual refinements and connected cleverness, it really sets itself apart from the rest through sonic engineering. In many ways, this is Panasonic laying claim to...

Sublime video quality; superior audio over HDMI; excellent analogue audio performance; good file support from USB

Infuriating touchpad controller; unnecessary multi-user modes; complicated networking mapping requirement

When putting together a home cinema system, it's all too easy to overlook the Blu-ray player. After all, isn't picture quality mostly dictated by your TV and sound quality by your amplifier? Contrary to popular belief, a high-quality Blu-ray player can...

Few will appreciate its multitude of audio-enhancing features, but this is still a fantastic Blu-ray player

Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Review

Brilliant in almost every way, the DMP-BDT500 is one of the finest Blu-ray players ever

Panasonic DMP-BDT500 review – summaryFlagship Blu-ray kit used to cost a fortune: five years ago, Panasonic’s top-spec DMP-BD10 cost a formidable £1300. 2012’s premium Panny is a teensy bit more

Panasonic goes all high-end with this luxury Blu-ray deck.

Picture, sound and build quality ; Excellent feature list ; Intuitive operating system

No DVD-Audio or SACD playback ; Touchpad remote can be frustrating

Panasonic's flagship player delivers a truly captivating performance

Excellent picture ; strong sound ; smooth motion handling ; great with 3D and upscaling

The remote control’s touch pad can be a bit awkward to use

Still, those are relatively minor gripes. Overall, is the Panasonic DMP-BDT500 worth the extra cash over the cheaper models in the range?
