Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 Blu-ray Player

I've been eagerly awaiting the Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 Blu-ray player. Aside from the company's reputation for building excellent video products, this player has one feature that lifts it above the others currently in the market: 1080p/24 output. What's...

Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 Blu-ray Disc Player: Short Take

Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 Blu-ray Disc Player: Short Take

Even though this format war is a pain in the butt, I have to admit that it's funner to come in to work than it's been in years. I'm getting a charge out of seeing the hardware and seeing my favorite movies come out in HD on a silver disc that I've...

Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 Blu-ray Disc Player: First Look

Pioneer Elite has a stellar reputation in optical disc players, and we're looking forward to seeing its first Blu-ray player. That being said, we're a little baffled at how it could be referred to in its specs as having "multi-format playback" when it...

Pioneer BDP-HD1

You can't beat the picture or sound on this unit. Fairly consistent firmware upgrades help decode the latest audio and play the latest BD-Java menus/games. This unit features an ethernet connection and is supposed to be able to view pictures, videos...

Product Specifications

PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus is a high quality image-processing technology developed by Panasonic to precisely process each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the vertical direction. It reproduces color data with twice the accuracy of conventional systems to keep colors faithful and sharp. Panasonic's developed high-precision 4:4:4 signal technology also processes each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the horizontal direction, to complement vertical direction processing. When viewed on a Viera high-end model, which features 4:4:4 signal compatibility, it recreates images with the original film quality to further enhance movie enjoyment. Because these models are compatible with the Viera Cast function, you can access YouTube, Picasa, and other Internet sites from the special Viera Cast screen. YouTube lets you watch the newest video clips, and Picasa lets you view Web-based photos. You can also check weather and stock information on other sites. The Blu-ray player features decoders that are compatible with all of the latest 7.1-channel surround sound formats used by the Blu-ray Disc standard. The 7.1-channel analog signal converted by the 192kHz D/A converter is transmitted in high quality. This signal can be connected to a receiver that does not support HDMI.
