Decent Drive, no 3D Playback Software

Works well, haven't burned any discs yet, but it's reading like a champ. The software included plays 2D Blu-rays fine

I got the impression from another review that this includes the version of Power DVD 10 that does 3D. It does NOT. So you still have to pay a ton of money if you want to get 3D playback if you get this drive

Three different model numbers in one!

Are you confused yet? Took off one star.

Supports BDXL and was able to read/play a 3D Blu-Ray disc

The retail box for this item will list the model number as BDR-2209, the drive itself will have a label with model number BDR-209UBK and when the drive is installed Windows will report the drive as model BDR-209M

Model Number Confusion Solved

The confusion comes from Pioneer shipping drives with a model number of BDR-209UBK in BDR-2209 retail boxes. The BDR-209UBK model number is CORRECT for the BDR-2209 package. Not to be confused with the BDR-209DBK, the BDR-209UBK is compatible with a...

Handles more BD formats than any other Pioneer BD Burner

Confusion exists about the advertised model number (BDR-2209) being different than the physical number on shipping drives (BDR-209UBK)

I believe this is a good product as it has received good reviews & that is why I ordered it. Mine was DOA & the little green light never came on & the door never opened. The tray never moved & the software was never installed. The computer never...

Beware - Check Device Manager

I received a BDR-209M in the BDR-2209 box. The box appeared to be previously opened but I did not think it would be a problem if the drive worked. I checked device manager and it showed the BDR-209M device which is not the same as the BDR-2209. Great,...

Looks like a great product - did not get what I ordered so can't really comment

see - Other thoughts

Will probably send back

I've not tested this drive for rewritable media or Blu-Ray media but my test results on good Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL do not indicate this drive is worth purchasing. I'd just as soon go back to LG, which has its own problems. My LG Blu-Ray drive stopped...

No problem reading a data CD to an image file. No problem burning a 16x Verbatim DVD-R

Does not write at 8x to 8x Verbatim DVD+R DL for a desired length of time. The first one I wrote mostly wrote at 6x with some 8x write time, but hardly worth noting. The write rate was all over the place, dropping to 4x, up to 6x, sometimes 8x, down to...
