Samsung BD-E6100 review

The alluringly-priced Samsung BD-E6100 3D Blu-ray player has plenty of features like DLNA and Smart Hub, but is that enough to justify your cash?

Generous features ; Solid pictures ; Easy to use

Plasticky bodywork ; Sparse connections ; Sluggish web browser

The BD-E6100 is a budget Blu-ray player with a decidedly non-budget feature list. Getting built-in Wi-Fi, the superb Smart Hub, DLNA streaming, 3D support and extensive format support via USB is phenomenally good value at just over £100, even though...

The Samsung BD-E6100 Blu-ray player is a bit flimsy but looks good in a gloss black brushed finish and offers value for money.

Excellent 2D and 3D ; AllShare Play GUI ; Video file suort ; Built-in Wi-Fi

Menus slow to load ; Smart Hub content ; Advertising on Smart Hub ; Limited ins and outs

Samsung BD-E6100 review

The BD-E6100 is the first of Samsung's 2012 home cinema line-up we've seen. Despite its entry-level price, the Blu-ray player has enough features to make it a worthy upgrade to anyone's home cinema setup.

A great entry-level blu-ray player, with plenty of useful features

Get pin-sharp pictures and features aplenty from Samsung's bargain Blu-ray deck.

Excellent internet portal ; Picture quality ; Easy to use

Sluggish web browser ; Lacks touch display of E8500 ; Sparse connections

We've taken a second look at the Samsung player, which is now much more competitive

Tempting price ; plenty of smart features ; good interface ; can use USB accessories

Picture needs more detail ; sound lacks power

While the Samsung is packed with smart features (including £50 of free movie credit from AceTrax until October), the key issue of picture quality lets it down – and with the Panasonic DMP-BDT220 only £30 more, it has a lot of catching up to do.

An update to the performance coupled with a drop in price means this is now a much more competitive player

Tempting price; plenty of smart features; good interface; can use USB accessories

Picture needs more detail; sound lacks power

Samsung BD-E6100 3D Smart Blu-ray Player

This DVD player was a big dissapointment. The first player that was sent had a fault in it and the dvd tray would'nt even open. You don't expect to have a problem like this from a big company like Samsung. Then I had the hassle of sending the item...

Poor Media format support

Purchased this player with the view to use it as a media player. Unfortunately it does not play .mkv files which is widely used to rip BluRay media. Had to send it back for a refund.
