A Review Of The Sony BDP-S6500 4K Upscaling Blu Ray Player

Sony has finally released the BDP-S6500, its brand spanking new Blu-ray player which boasts a significant improvement from its predecessor and comes with heaps of new features (some more useful than others). At a slightly elevated price in comparison...

4K Ultra HD upscaling ; Immersive viewing with 3D capability ; Stream online content fast via built-in super Wi-Fi ; Control TV right from your smartphone with TV SideView ; Dual Core Processor for faster operation

Uninspiring, bland design ; Lack of TV apps ; Issues with Mimecast mirroring compatibility

Overall, the BDP-S6500 is worth the price if you can overlook it’s small but niggling deficiencies. The design isn’t the most creative or impressive, but amongst all your other gleaming TV gadgets, does it really matter that much? With the BDP-S6500...

Sony BDP-S6500 Review

In a field like Blu-ray players, versatility is crucial, since single-task devices with basic functionality quickly become obsolete. Here, the Sony BDP-S6500 shows its strengths. Few players come bundled with upscale options like 4K and 3D conversion....

The Sony has premium 4K and 3D playback features.

The remote suffers from light design clutter.

The Sony BDP-S6500 combines mainstream design with excellent video and audio support. Premium features like 4K upscaling give it added value over entry-level players.

Nice little blu ray player!

We have had our player for around 3 weeks now & have watched a couple of movies on it. The quality is reasonably good but I wouldn't say it upscale to 4K quality which I was led to believe? Otherwise does what it says on the tin.

This is a great player. Simple to set up and use. A clear interface that even a Luddite such as I can use. Picture quality is great (although I cannot rate the 4K as I only have an HD TV). Works with my Panasonic TV and (clearly) my Sony TV. Discs a...
