Sony Internet Player With Google TV (NSZ-GS7)

Two years in and Google TV is still trying to find its footing in an entertainment ecosystem that already offers simple, easy-to-set-up access to online services, either through connected HDTVs and Blu-ray players or dedicated media hubs like the Roku...

Well-designed remote. Plenty of functionality. Lots of online services and apps

Not as polished or intuitive as other media hubs. Finding good apps requires combing through many not-so-great ones

The Sony Internet Player With Google TV (NSZ-GS7) is one of the better ways to get Google TV on your HDTV, even if the platform itself still suffers from a lack of polish.

Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

More Info Sony's second try at Google TV brings Blu-ray player, streaming box and a new remote Google TV goes international, Sony NSZ-GS7 set-top box up for preorder in the US and UK Google TV officially switching to ARM, Marvell Armada 1500 CPU to...

One of the best QWERTY remotes for the HT ever ; Noticeably faster than older Google TVs ; HDMI-CEC, 3D and 24p output

Price is steep compared to other streamers ; Google TV ecosystem is still unproven

The NSZ-GS7 is probably the best way add the Google TV experience to your existing TV, but Google still has a way to go before it deserves to be a fixture in most living rooms.

Faster, more responsive interface ; Hardware is simple and ports are well placed ; Awesome universal search functionality

Google TV needs more content ; App selection is lacking ; Device gets really hot

When does 'it has potential' turn into 'it's not good enough?'

"Reliable, versatile, easy to use, well worth the money."

I've had mine for about 5 months and am ready to post my review. I support the Google tv concept but have been disappointed with previous iterations and with other Sony devices and while this isn't quite as good as having a full on laptop connected to...

Some decent apps

Not very fast

"Not sure why the bad press and reviews..this box works!"

Okay let me break this down to you very simply. I read reviews before I buy any product. Whether it be here on Amazon or Best Buy or CNET or Consumer Reports, I read and research and think and then browse and research more. I debated over and over...

Great searching capabilities and works with existing cable provider

IR blaster controlled and will not allow Logitech remote control use

"A poor compromise between a Smart TV and a HTPC."

I got this as part of an offer with my Sony TV and honestly, I would not recommend paying for it.

The keyboard/remote

Very limited range of apps available

Not good

Just get a Chromecast for playing youtube from your phone to the TV. leave this alone.

Runs for hours without crashing, sometimes

Prone to overheating, crashing and lack of content. Have to download add-ons to do anything, play from NAS, stream from the internet and so on. Doesn't support Flash at all so things like HBO2Go is a no go ; Have to pay for content from other providers...

Good not Great

The Fast Forward and Rewind buttons on the touch pad have stopped working recently, less than a year of moderate use.

Easy to use, full Chrome Browser on your TV, nice remote. Pandora, Netflix, PLEX, 1080 support

Limited Google TV app selection, but what is available seems to be stable
