Vizio to Ship $199 Blu-ray Player

VIZIO's new $199 VBR100 Blu-ray player is outfitted with a 108MHz/11-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and provides 720p/1080i/1080p video upconversion for standard definition DVD discs via HDMI.

Absolutely avoid this one!

First of all, I've worked with computers for many years, so this wasn't a case of not being able to understand/follow directions or figure things out. I researched this unit online and saw that consumers either rated it very highly ... or at the bottom...

The price was very attractive ($138 vs $198 for a Sony at the same store) and it offers some good features ... if it worked properly

Very poor connectivity to WiFi, inept customer support, miserable remote control unit

Not a reliable player

My second unit has failed me lasting 6 months vs 3 this time. Same issue of disappearing audio and a new one where it skips ahead with no interaction. Going with another brand as I no longer trust Vizio

I liked the initial price

Audio stops 30 min into movie ; Poor Quality ; No advanced replacement option, have to wait weeks for repairs or replacement ; Poor remote range

product stont pped working completely after only 4 mths

vizio vbr100 blue ray stopped working, no power to the unit at all. had a similar problem with a vizio big screen, no power, after 1 year and three weeks, vizio wouldn't stand behind product. always purchase the extended waranty. vbr 100 will be...

high tech looking

product wouldn't turn on after only having it 4 months

Not a great Product, it's pretty bad

I'm taking this Vizio Blu-Ray Player back because it's a piece of garbage. I don't know how they can sell a product like this. I would not recommend anyone to buy this blu-ray player. However; I just got a PS3 and the Blu-ray picture quality for some...

You can scrap it for parts

when playing DVDs, the audio is off and I have to stop the dvd and start it again. Very slow operating. Sometimes freezes and I have to unplug and plug it back in

This unit will be replaced at my first convenience. Playing BD movies is not supposed to be an angry experience!

The 1080p picture is fine

Weak audio through the HDMI output. Unusable remote control -- reliable range is about 8 feet. Aspect selection on upscaled pictures is unreliable; some DVDs simply can't be played

You can do much better for $150-$200

Got this at Wal-mart for $168. Initial impressions were good out of the box - nice aesthetics and solid feeling. The image quality for both Blu-Ray and DVD was just sub-par. It may have been the source material, but I played at least 10 different discs...

Physically substantial and well made ; Nice looking enclosure

Blu-ray picture only average ; DVD upconverted image quality average to poor ; Very weak sound

Easy to Use

I love the look is to elegant, nice buttons just barely touch and works, sometimes does't recognize burn DVD'S and i don't like the Noise that make when you turn on, by the rest is cool remote control too big, and hard to make it work but good Blue Ray...

Good cheap Blu-ray player, lacks WiFi

There isn't much on the BD-Live front, but that's not the fault of the player. The only reason I took one egg off is because of the lack of WiFi, and you can get the VBR200W for just a little bit more.

Cheap Blu-ray player with a nice touch control panel. Picture is clear as can be, and sound is nice and crisp, especially when hooked up to a Vizio HDTV. DVD Upconversion is perfect

Lacks WiFi and runs a little on the warm side in my cabinet, but that is only because I don't have the recommended 5 inches on either side for ventilation

Works great!

I'm extremely happy with this so far. One thing though the package came all beat up and looked very rough...
