Vizio VBR200W

Vizio is a company best known for offering bargain-price HDTVs that perform better than you'd expect, so we weren't surprised to find that the company's VBR200W Blu-ray player fits the same mold. It's one of the cheapest players ($190 street price)...

Very good Blu-ray image quality; Netflix, Vudu, and Pandora streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; plays music, videos, and photos off a connected USB drive; relatively inexpensive for its features set

Sluggish disc-loading speeds; occasional operational hiccups; Wi-Fi performance lags behind other players we've tested; no DLNA compatibility; fewer streaming services than some competitors; uninspired exterior design; no DivX support

The Vizio VBR200W Blu-ray player is rough around the edges and a little slow, but you do get a lot of bang for your buck.

Vizio VBR200W

Known for its reasonably priced HDTVs featured in retail outlets such as Costco, BJ's, and Walmart, Vizio has added yet another affordable home theater component to its lineup: The connected Blu-ray player. The Vizio VBR200W ($199.99 list) is a...

Affordable. Good performance. Solid feature set including integrated Wi-Fi, the usual Web app suspects, plus Facebook and Twitter

Bulky build. Slow disc loads. Lacks internal memory for BD Live. Using social networking apps is almost impossible with the bundled remote control

The Vizio VBR200W may not be the slimmest Blu-ray player on the block, but it delivers solid image quality and a wider than typical assortment of Web apps—all at a palatable price.

Review: Vizio VBR200W Blu-ray player

This unit offers most of what you'd want in a multimedia Blu-ray player, and it does so at a reasonable price; but its design and its handling of DVD upscaling miss the mark.

If you buy a VBR200W, consider playing DVDs at 480p and letting your HDTV do the upscaling. Depending on how well your TV upscales standard-definition video, the image may look better that way

Vizio VBR200W Blu-ray Player Reviewed

One of the least expensive Blu-ray players to offer built-in 802.11n for network access, Vizio's VBR200W ($199.99) also includes the well-rounded Vizio Internet Apps (VIA) platform, with Netflix, VUDU, Twitter, Pandora, and more....

The VBR200W supports 1080p/24 playback of Blu-ray discs ; The player has internal high-resolution audio decoding and can pass these formats in bitstream form over HDMI ; It supports BD-Live Web content and can play picture-in-picture bonus content ;...

The VBR200W lacks multichannel analog audio outputs, so it's not the best choice for someone who owns an older, non-HDMI A/V receiver ; This player lacks onboard memory to store downloadable BD-Live content ; You can't stream digital media from a PC or...

The addition of Vizio Internet Apps makes the VBR200W much more competitive with Blu-ray players from manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG. In terms of price, Vizio doesn't have quite the edge here that you see in the HDTV realm: the...

"The Price is right"

I have a Blu-Ray player with a great picture for under $100. Haven't tried WiFi

Price. Great picture.

Big remote. Buttons on front don't work too well.

"great expectations, turned out to be a boat anchor."

Great disappointment.

Sleek design with capacitive touch front panel. Vizio name inspires confidence.

WiFi VERY unreliable, even though access point is 10 feet away with max bars. Drops downloads inmiddle of the movie again and again. GUI is terrible for troubleshooting. Tech support good, but couldn't solve basic problem in design. Remote terrible

Not worth the money.

My husband bought this as a gift for me, focusing on the wiresless connectivity. That has turned out to be a huge disappointment. Even after successfully connecting, it loses that connection for no apparent reason and then does not give you a wireless...

relatively easy to set up

wireless won't stay connected, horrible remote

Feature packed for a low price; plagued with problems

I bought this player on impulse because the price was too good to pass on. I initially bought 1 Blu-Ray movie which played fine and I used streaming Netflix without a problem. I rarely used it at all for over 5 months, however when I decided to start a...

Great Blu-Ray playback, streaming services, modern look

terrible remote, sluggish load times, unpredictable performance, won't play some Blu-Ray movies, customer support not helpful

Vizio Wireless Blu-ray palyers are of poor quality

If you want quality try the Sony BDP-BX57 3D wireless player

It played a purchased blu-ray disc

Will not play burned disc after cleaning ; Will not play purchased DVD movies after cleaning and master reset ; wireless connectivity disconnects from in store signal
